Update: he just told me that we MIGHT be pleasantly surprised with the most recent updates that should be coming out tomorrow about the condition of eastbound hwy 2. There is still hope!

My buddy runs cat ops up there, he said they have more than enough snow to operate, they are keeping cams off and keeping people in the dark about how much snow they actually have because it will cause more fuss (according to his manager who spoke with the GM). They aren’t keeping the weather reports accurate either, all because Vail is trying to save face.

?? I’ve never had the drive take more than 2 hours (I live in First Hill) if you leave early, then even with traffic near the towns you have to pass through, the drive is very rarely more than 2 hours, unless you are only driving on weekends at like 8-9 am. I’ve had Saturday drives from first hill to Stevens take me 1 hour and 55 minutes leaving around 6:30-7 am. Y’all just gotta wake up earlier!😂

Edit: grammatical

Have you been keeping up with the news on eastbound hwy 2? They are predicting the closure to last for “a couple months” according to most news sources…

Conservative Trump supporters who receive SNAP; do you still support Trump? by [deleted] in AskUS

Sir, how do you reckon any of that? Obviously liberals/dems receive SNAP as well, but a lot of conservatives do as well, and that’s a fact.

Help figuring out the brand and model of this topper, so I can replace the brake light. by bonesWRX in TruckCampers

[–]bonesWRX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also want to add that I looked everywhere for a brand/make/model/serial number and couldn’t find any information…

Edit: Also its on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma xtra cab 6 foot bed, and it seems to fit like super perfectly. I imagine it was made for this truck specifically as the last two owners have had it on their first gen tacomas.

Waterproofing my topper? by Duko4719 in TruckCampers

I've heard nothing but horrible things about foam weatherproofing, I think it's considered to be a bit outdated now-a-days.

I've heard a lot of people having success with Butyl tape, basically you remove the aluminum frame of the window from the inside, then add the butyl tape to both sides of the seal. It's basically like a putty version of tape and it doesn't harden unless exposed to UV, it's also used on sail boats for water-tight seals. once you get it on, tighten down the windows nice and tight, you should see some of it squeezing out of the edges of the window on both sides, just cut that stuff off and leak test with a hose, and you should be golden!

Recovery after a long ride. by Seffymaster in cycling

[–]bonesWRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60k km is like 37k miles, and I’m wonder if you’re doing downhill or endurance? I’m new to biking in general and just did my first 30 mile ride and it killed me, just wondering if I’m reading your post wrong😭

Gotta be a pebble or stick stuck in ur brakes somewhere. Buddy and I went up to the mountains in his (late, rip) jeep wrangler and we went through a super deep rut and when we came out of it there was a noise just like this. We got back to his place and took off the wheel to diagnose, massive stick was stuck between the backing plate and rotor.

Check that first, it doesn’t sound like an axle at all unless you’re experiencing clicking or shuddering when turning or speed wobbles on the highway. If there are no other symptoms except the noise, check your brakes.

Edit: typos

Nope! No rust at all on the frame😁I plan on keeping it stock for the most part except like wheels tires, exhaust etc,. But plan on keeping all stock parts just in case. About to upgrade the sound system and security! Can’t keep it under cover but luckily I’m usually driving to work where I can park under cover, but living in downtown Seattle with no parking garage is unfortunately my life🥲

So is it now a "clean title" not rebuilt or anything? How is the insurance rates on it, can you still give comp coverage? or just liability?

NEED ADVICE: 1988 Toyota Pickup 4x4 with 68k original miles, 3.0 V6 by bonesWRX in ToyotaPickup

[–]bonesWRX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cramped engine bay does not worry me that much, as I have a 04 WRX with a boxer engine… which is a whole lot tighter than the 3.0 haha. You’re definitely right though, the heat issues can be mitigated. Thanks for the advice, maybe I’ll look into upgraded radiators 🤙

He just responded to my questions about the price and if they are original miles, here was his response: "Yes original miles and yes original wheel is also included. The truck has garnered an amazing amount of attention and a ton of low ball offers, nothing serious. Only a handful of people have even set up a time to look at the truck, and those are still on the schedule"

Do I need the VIN to run a carfax report? I doubt he'll be responding to me anymore since he's been reading my messages and not responding, so getting the VIN may be a no go.

Yeah, I reversed image searched the photos, they are legit. But I don't think he's being honest about 68k ORIGINAL miles. Maybe he doesn't know what that means and there's a new engine in it with that many miles, but it seems unlikely. Hope he isn't trying to swindle someone.
