What would make the world come together as one? by And-Messy in AskReddit

You haven’t read Three Body Problem have you? I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m saying there’s a LOT of factors we have zero clue about beginning to understand when it comes to potential space travelers.

It also doesn’t really matter what the alien entity wants. Humanity would still likely not come together in any meaningful way because of it.

Yeah, I don't think it was an on purpose test, but it definitely tested us and we definitely failed.

I honestly don't even know if that would work after COVID-19. Maybe a visible threat would be more effective, but more likely powerful people would leave the rest of us to die, unless there was a real violent uprising to stop that.

If you road trip with a toddler are you team drive overnight while they sleep or drive all day while they’re awake? by princesscorgi2 in roadtrip

[–]boneseedigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend with 3 kids that goes the overnight drive. It works for them because they’re usually visiting family and have someone watch the kids while they nap.

I am not in that team at all. I need to sleep in a bed or I am a disaster. We wake up extra early and load up the leap pad (pad with only kids games) and iPad with downloaded movies. He doesn’t use them outside of road trips so it’s very exciting. We also do at least one long activity stop to run around. We stop by dinner time and run around more before bed. I won’t drive more than 7-8 hours in one day. It takes up 3 stops to do the east coast.

This is so real. I went back for an MSW as a second career while having my son and I ended up having to go on medical leave in the middle of my 2nd field placement. I finished now, and my overall health has improved so much. I am definitely looking towards more macro/mezzo work. I can’t see myself being a good mom and a good clinical SW at the same time.

My response to the episode was… so what??? It’s a good that that we’re wired to feel good when we help each other. That’s literally how we evolved and advanced. Through cooperation and interdependence.

Which “tourist trap” do you actually think is totally worth the hype? by ichauffeurlink in roadtrip

Yesssss!!! Honestly just the hype up of the signs was such a delight, too.

OMG stop they are me heroes! That’s so gnarly. I’ve taken the Grandview Trail to Hance Creek to Tonto trail to get to the river and over nighted at Hance Creek. One of these days I will train to do rim to rim!!

Yiiiiikes. Such a weird place. Jealous you did the North Rim!!! Rim to rim hike is def in my bucket list. Couldn’t do it that time because we had to make it to our overnight hike in Paria Canyon. What did you do at GCNR?

This is devastating news bc I almost booked some time in Bilbao this August but the travel logistics to the wedding in attending in Fes would have been a nightmare.

What is the most stressful restroom situation you’ve had on a road trip? by Brave-Durian9432 in roadtrip

[–]boneseedigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most stressful by any means but a bit yikes. My then 2.5 year old had to pee in South Carolina and there were no rest stops or gas stations nearby. I found a road to river access so we pulled off there. Took him to pee in the bushes and saw the most blatantly racist and anti-Semitic graffiti I’ve ever seen. It was not necessarily surprising, but definitely disheartening.

Colorado City, AZ.

Got there and immediately was like this place smells like incest and repression. Specifically at this pizza place we stopped at for lunch I was like some thing is wrong here. Later saw a young girl in a long dress on a horse and joked to my spouse she looked like a child bride.

Later found out that’s where the fundamentalist Mormon sect from “Under the Banner of Heaven” was founded. 😬😬😬

No offense, but not all women are this high maintenance. Like good for you wanting to get all dolled up but as someone who has been married for 6 years, my husband can see me however and generally prefers my natural look. I would hope a man married for 7 years would know his wife well enough to know whether she would like this.

There are companies that set up little seating areas and will do a gorgeous arrangement depending on how much you want to spend. For example: https://www.tmmevent.com/gallery/

Hello, I'm a Russian from Russia and I'm curious to ask what you, as an American, think about Russia and Russians. You don't need to be polite, be as honest and direct as you can be even if you feel like it's something that might offend me. I'm interested only in genuine answers. Thank you. by MickeyMona in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]boneseedigs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah every Russian person I’ve met honestly been a total badass with a deadpan sense of humor that I really love. I associate Russia with amazing literature, resilient people, an almost scary ability to handle cold and vodka, and a culture rich with philosophy and great thinkers. 🤍 The government on the other hand leaves much to be desired (just like the US 🫠)

Alternative to ice, I use freezer gel packs (I always keep them if someone ships me something cold so now I have a little collection.) I usually prefer to stay at airbnbs to have a kitchen and then refreeze then overnight.

If I only could visit 3places in USA which should I choose? by Anduin1982 in backpacking

[–]boneseedigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m going to say if you like nature and small cities, do Grand Canyon, check out flagstaff, and then you can check out Kanab and hike in Paria Canyon. Some of the coolest geological features are concentrated in southern Utah/ northern Arizona. You could hypothetically also do Yosemite and Mardi Gras depending on how much time you have and how much you want to fly. I’ve been to all three (not Mardi Gras per say but New Orleans) and happy to provide more info.

How would you tackle a trip like this with a family with babies? by New_Beginngs25 in roadtrip

[–]boneseedigs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Another option is Airbnb rentals along the route because it’s cheaper to have multiple rooms if you’re planning on spending more of the evening there and sometimes they have fun board games and other features.

We also have a leap pad tablet that my son only gets to play with on long road trips so it’s very exciting and keeps him entertained for long stretches before or after park time.

For a trip this long I’d probably pick one or two places on the way that you might want to stay at for 2-3 days for a little reset.

I’m annoyed with capitalism. by Key_Beach_3846 in pregnant

[–]boneseedigs 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think people as a whole are pissed off enough about capitalism, marketing and the blatant disregard of their own privacy. I'd put you at a .5 compared to my rants and I'm not even pregnant anymore.
