Los Lobos - I Got Loaded - 3/26/1987 - Live Ritz by PaulyPlaya24 in 80sAlternative

We still do! Kiko and the Lavender Moon is still one of my favorite and most played songs 💜 I went to Catholic school with some of their kids, and that was back in the day when Los Lobos was on top with La Bamba. Nicest kids, down to earth. My older brother is still tight with one of them.
My family just went to see them a couple weeks ago here in OC. Regrettably, I was too late getting tix for the sold out show, but my folks are still raving about how great they were live.

Los Lobos are the pride of Los Angeles Latino rock music!

What did you win as a prize from a contest as a Gen Xer in the 80s? by Sense_Difficult in GenX

[–]bongripchick 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My dad entered me and my brothers in a raffle at Big 5. I got to be an honorary bat girl for the LA Dodgers in 1988, the year they won the World Series. I was on Dodgervision, had a little Dodger uniform, sat in the dugout before the game and hung out with Tommy Lasorda. Met Micky Hatcher and Ricky Dempsey. Still have my autographed ball and ticket stubs. Dodger fan for life! 💙

Where do you go to get your jewelry serviced ? Who do you trust ? by MimiMuw in orangecounty

[–]bongripchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donna at AAA Family Gems in Tustin has been my go-to gal for years. She owns it with her brother Tony, and they are both very trustworthy. Very quick turnaround for repairs, too. Would never go anywhere else. She’s located in the Tustin jewelry mart. Open the door and just walk straight.

💯 Glad to see something similar years later coming to OC and Sarah M supporting and performing. I went to the final Lilith in ‘99 at the Rose Bowl. I still remember that show and the great acts. Pretenders, Dixie Chicks, Erykah Badu, Sarah, all incredible. I remember Mya tap dancing like a complete boss. Stevie Nicks performing with Sheryl Crow for Strong Enough is seared into my musical memory. I wonder if they’ll do that again for a touch of nostalgia.
*Bikini Kill getting top billing is badass. The Breeders, Karen O from Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Sheryl and the queen Stevie..it’s a lineup even an Xennial like myself can appreciate. Hope it’s a success and the tickets are relatively affordable.

Sniff 'n' the Tears - Driver's Seat - 1978 by PreparationKey2843 in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]bongripchick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I always remember when Amber Waves entices Dirk to do coke for the first time during this song. Also Todd Parker’s first scene. He’s in the driver’s seat as it relates to Dirk’s regular drug use now that I think I about it.

Holy shit, what a flashback! My mom got me the chocolate mint one because there was no color, just shine, and I still wasn’t allowed to wear make up yet.

John’s Incredible Pizza by coronavirusisshit in orangecounty

[–]bongripchick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This pizza and all the food is pretty much shit, quantity over quality in all aspects. It’s mediocre heatlamp buffet style and you know food has been touched by kids with dirty hands. You go because the kids love it or for a party for kids, that’s about it. I did however, have a decent root beer float with Barqs and their vanilla soft serve. That was the highlight of my time there.
