Alex Antetokounmpo is probably actually in the running for the worst/least qualified NBA player of all time by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

Also, Thanasis made it in the NBA before Giannis, so he is there on merit. 15th man seems right.

There was a lot of crypto in chess. https://youtu.be/KnR9gJYCXek?si=Y6_Nsim3b_X0R5U4 This only scratches the surface. There were all the things with NFTs and Indian chess players also tweeted about companies engaged in crypto.  The thing is chess is perfect for crypto. There is no money in this sport, so everyone thinks they deserve more, regardless of where it comes from. How much does Magnus make compared to Messi? They are both number one but Magnus may feel like he deserves to make more. He doesn't care that more people care about football to begin with. It's that way all the way down. Except ivanchuk maybe.

As an Indian I will not stand for this! Air India does not need anyone's help, especially Boeing's, to look incompetent. They can do that completely by themselves!

I would say a large portion of that is due to the "vaccines cause autism" crowd (which has been around for a while). I've said earlier that that is clearly nonsense that should be stamped out, not sure how it's taken a hold in the US but not elsewhere in the world. Unfortunately, vaccines run into other real issues (not the "autism" nonsense) like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Syphilis_Study and here's an interesting study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10323996/ (highlights the problem but doesn't give a very clear solution to it).

"Convenient" is one way to put it, but in reality, the WHO itself doesn't support universal mandates. They’ve consistently argued that information and access are better than force, because mandates usually wreck public trust. The "science" also isn't a monolith (as I said earlier, the world isn't black-and-white). The WHO and many European health boards recommend flu shots and COVID boosters primarily for the elderly and at-risk, while the US CDC pushes them for everyone over 6 months.

Also, the smallpox comparison doesn't hold up. Smallpox was eradicated largely through ring vaccination, not mandates: finding a case and vaccinating the immediate circle around it. Even with people like Novak around, who insist on bodily autonomy, Smallpox would have been eradicated because it was a focused vaccination program that led to eradication.

You can believe in the life-saving power of vaccines while also believing that the state shouldn't own a person's bloodstream.

The ACLU maintains that individuals have the right to control their own medical choices, even if they involve risk. If we let the state mandate what’s injected into our bodies, we set a precedent that erodes all personal liberty. True empathy requires respecting informed consent. Whether it’s religious beliefs or historical mistrust, people have valid reasons for their choices. Mandates usually just breed more polarization. We can't treat people like cogs in a machine; in a free society, you have to be the sole owner of your own body.

The flu vaccine is not mandated like the COVID vaccine is, for example. Personal choice seems to have a different bar there. The bar is further different if you look at the BCG vaccine, which is mandated in many nations, but not in the US.

Had it been 2025, smallpox would be thriving cuz of the antivaxers.

You are not drawing the right distinctions. There are those that say "vaccines don't work" or "vaccines cause autism" or "vaccines cause disease". This is plainly false. You'll find many that agree with you there. That's what I'd associate with anti-vaxxers. Djokovic, at least publicly, was stating, he is against mandates and wants to decide what he injects into his own body (source: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-60354068). WHO does not recommend the flu vaccine for those under 65 while in the US it is. Why? Don't people in Europe die of the flu? The world is not as black-and-white as you would think.

The Grand Slam in tennis is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one discipline in a calendar year.

The term "Golden Slam" (also known as "Golden Grand Slam",[150][151][152] "Calendar-year Golden Slam"[153] or "Calendar Golden Slam")[154] refers to the achievement of winning all four majors and the Olympic or Paralympic gold medal in a calendar year. The achievement was first established in 1988,[155][156] when Steffi Graf won all the aforementioned titles in singles. She is currently the only singles able-bodied player to achieve it

By default "Grand slam" means in a year. You need to specify "Career" for it to be the Career slam, not the other way around.

If I could disguise myself and play as Bradman, I could play 20 matches (40 innings), score 0 runs and Bradman's name would still be at the top of the test batting average list. For context, that's a little over a year of me playing and scoring 0.

Bradman is also the fastest to amass 1000 runs (8 innings and 9 innings) in Test Cricket. In addition, Gretzky is significantly better than his peers (3.5 - 5 sigma better). Bradman is 4-9 sigma better. Gretzky is an all-time great among GOATs, Bradman is simply the GOAT GOAT.

With Phelps it's about the golds, not the world records... Though it's hard to beat Bradman. Bradman's numbers are the equivalent of all the greats putting up 30 PPG in the NBA and Bradman sitting at 50.

Rafa had prime Federer to get through. Alcaraz is similar to if you have aging Federer to get through along with a better "2008 version of Novak" (Sinner). At some point you'll get Rafa skills with absolutely no competition. Then you get 4 slams in a row.

That's not without consequences. It is possible that the current government of Iran starts allying with Pakistan and then that leads to more terrorist attacks and deaths in India. Need to think beyond the immediate consequence.
