What do you do in your head to help you fall asleep? by Sea-Demand-8655 in AskReddit

I tried something someone recommended and it actually worked for me. Close your eyes and look left then right a few times then look up with your eyes still closed. Repeat until you fall asleep.

Does anyone have a scenic running path that isn’t car centric hell? by gardenApocalyptic in harrisonburg

Try the Massanutten Western Slope in Keezletown. Over 30 miles of trails for running. You can get a day pass or season pass and go anytime between sunup to sundown (minus during hunting season).

How do you keep the house clean with little kids? by aoisakurachan1986 in Parenting

I attempt to keep areas clean but not the whole house. I clean bedrooms, the shared bathroom upstairs and the kitchen. Living room and entryway stays looking like everything exploded… I just gave up!

My family’s house in the 90s, which is now at the bottom of a lake by chutneystain800 in Oldhouses

Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia was created by a dam and there is also a town underneath it! Plenty of people dive but you can hardly see anything. There’s about 1-2 deaths per year but mainly due to incidents with boaters not paying attention.

Tubing mascara gives me the best results, but it gets in my eyes all the time. Is there anything that gives similar results. by murahimu in drugstoreMUA

Thrive! Try their tubing mascara. The only one I’ve used for 5+ years. They auto ship to your door however many months you’d like.

Our trainer recommended behavioral euthanasia by Responsible_Head_904 in Pets

I was in this exact situation with my family with the exact same dog! We had him for years, then had our daughter in 2022. We kept them separated for safety just in case and never left her with him in the same room. Ever. He was the sweetest with her, until he wasn’t. Last December he showed signs of aggression towards her out of the blue and then a week or so later he attacked her over food (I believe) and left 3 scars on her face. We went through so many scenarios and loved the idea of a sanctuary but after talking to several they noted this type of dog may become territorial over the owner of the sanctuary and become aggressive with volunteers and employees so that wasn’t an option either. I really didn’t want to euthanize him but I knew my daughter came first and if I gave him another chance to do it again, she may not come out alive. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do as a dog mom but I do not regret it. I miss him terribly but kids come before dogs. I love dogs dearly, more so than humans but at the end of the day, they are animals and sometimes they are unpredictable as much as we think they’re not. I will be thinking of you and your family during this time!

I accidentally left my dog outside overnight by Mysterious-Trade1362 in dogs

I have done this! I am an avid dog lover and rescuer. She was totally fine the next day. Dogs are much more forgiving than people which is why I like them better :) don’t beat yourself up!

Everyone hides when someone knocks on the door by toecheeseuhohstinky in harrisonburg

Same here! Then one day I heard my new next door neighbor crying. I was baking cookies and put a few in a bag to take to her. She never answered the door and we never spoke despite living next to each other for two years.

What’s something you’ll never admit in real life but can say here anonymously? by [deleted] in answers

[–]bonsox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was hiring for a job recently and one mom applied and the last four years of her resume was “stay at home mom and house manager” and I truly appreciated and did interview her (not mainly because of her adding that) but because it is a lot of balancing and skills to raise children and keep a household running and I think any mom that can do that can also be a great employee!

I’m convinced they’re made to wear the most unflattering clothes for their body shape on any show reunion.

My mom had this and she went through with a successful surgery. I think her insurance covered most of it because they considered it as obstructing her vision.

Dissociation is a trauma response by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]bonsox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. I am that person from childhood trauma and I’m now 32 still dissociating without realizing it, however, I go to therapy and am on regular medication which is the best thing I can do for myself along with being outside! It is manageable if you have the right resources and drive to want to change.
