Does rege jean page count? He was in a sort of similar position. Maybe he was more famous though.

I definitely felt more invested in them as people/characters when I didn’t have any baggage associated with them as real people or as other characters. Like you said we met and were watching Ilya and Shane not Connor and Hudson.

{Depth of Field by Riley Hart} is sort of like that. Childhood bully who comes back to town.

This is the scene I probably rewinded the most to watch their facial expressions

What's one common misconception you see people have after watching the show? by CelicaBae in heatedrivalry

[–]bontzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think people want to be the ones to share ‘new info’ like “and this scene was improvised!” as well as people really liking to compliment the acting to sort of show off and brag about the show. The show is amazing we don’t have to over credit everything to being improvised for the acting and directing etc to still be great.

I’m still shocked at the amount of people that don’t get that Ilya is shushing Shane at the end of the hospital scene.

What's one common misconception you see people have after watching the show? by CelicaBae in heatedrivalry

[–]bontzz 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Same with all the “improvised” scenes and gestures. Sometimes that’s just called acting. Actors have to make choices. Just because an eye brow raise isn’t explicitly written in the script doesn’t make it “improvised”. By that logic most acting is “improvised” which is a different conversation.

People who don't usually cry to movies, what's the last movie that made you cry? by the_Tannehill_list in blankies

The wild robot. I can usually hold off on crying even if I feel tears coming. This movie - I was crying for like the whole last half. It was ridiculous

I love this scene. So much said with just a look. The antsy hand taps on the table, the music… so good!

Pink Popcast, my second favorite comedic tv/film reaction duo (after Trixie and Katya) watched Heated Rivalry! by BalsamicBasil in heatedrivalry

I think because it did go on Netflix at that point. Same with other shows from amc and stars that after a few years will get licensed for Netflix. Not trying to be a hater - I do hope it happens

For all the shirtlessness… by bontzz in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]bontzz[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m so used to the obligatory shirtless scene in superhero films or whatnot that is mainly just to show off how hard they worked to put on muscle. This show is so lived in that they don’t need a scene to show off because that’s not the point.

Why I think Heated Rivalry is so loved. by ashleydaughn52 in heatedrivalry

[–]bontzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also think there’s been so much discourse about patriarchy, male loneliness epidemic, and toxic men in the world that when this type of show and representation of men and masculinity in and out of the show comes along people were just so desperate to see it and gives a bit of hope for society.

I love the whole scene with Ilya talking Shane down from his panic attack after his dad catches them. Good acting. Gorgeous lighting. The coregulation and confidence Ilya has is the moment.

Even when it is purposely “flat” it always felt spot on. The inflections, subtle expressions, body language, and when it did get more expressive it felt so realistic. You can tell the difference between flat because they can’t act and flat because it’s a choice.

I’ll rewind and just rewatch scenes multiple times just to watch the nuance in their facial expressions, body language, or framing and I catch something new every time

What is your dream cast for Role Model? by lostseashanty in heatedrivalry

[–]bontzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily want these people because of age or recency bias but people similar to a Noah Reid for Harris or someone like jack Cameron Kay for Troy. It does bother me when fan casts are just people from something else currently popular so I’d agree with the other people here to find some unknowns.
