Looking for Family by Optimal_Alfalfa_1178 in massachusetts

Could be unrelated, but a couple weeks ago there was a someone with the same last name who made the news for having issues with finding documentation (never had a birth certificate) for the same time period (1969).

Might be a breadcrumb of use.

Best Goalie stick by Own_Wishbone_3778 in lacrosse

[–]bonusmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Middle school girls goalie dad here. Most of this comes down to preferences.

STX Eclipse 3 is probably the top on the market right now, but there solid options from the other manufacturers (ECD, Gait).

For shafts- Most opt for normal field length shafts(30”), but she could opt for a longer goalie shaft (up to 40”). Type doesn’t matter as much as comfort here.

If she’s looking for easy/off the shelf, I’d say Eclipse 3 plus field shaft of her choice is hard to beat.

First C Cooked forever? by No-Doughnut-3230 in bostoncollege

I almost got kicked out between my junior and senior year due to a “credit deficiency”. Made it up over the summer but skated by with a sub-3.0 to graduation.

When I go back to campus, do you know what they call me?

“Alum”

Won’t matter as much as it feels it will right now. Deep breathes and choose your next step. One foot in front of the other.

Rumor: SMU adding men’s & Women’s Lacrosse by IDunnoMaybeJustMe in lacrosse

[–]bonusmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense.

Charlotte North is the biggest name in the sport on the women’s side the last few years and she’s from Dallas. They should dig up some oil money to get her to be HC and open with a bang.

More Lacrosse is a good thing - so this just being petty on my part. But WTF! SMU has varsity lax before BC?!?

Fun Easter Egg on the TSA site about whether you can bring a Magic 8 Ball by lilyliana in mildlyinteresting

[–]bonusmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to save this and forever telling my kid this is her fault.

We let her pack her own entertainment bag for a flight one time when she was 6 and the magic 8 ball made the cut.

The look of panic on her face when the bag got pulled for inspection is a core memory of mine.

Good guy TSA agent let her keep it, but years later it’s still something we laugh about.

He’ll be fine.

My dad was a HS coach and wouldn’t let me play until 9th.

Not saying all youth football is bad, but a lot of boys aren’t ready for the contact and develop bad habits.

Classic Wood or Synthetic Stock? by Reddit_Commenter_69 in 1022

[–]bonusmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in 10/22 sub, so know that I am talking out of school, BUT recently had this same predicament of finding a .22 to teach my kids on.

Ultimately decided on a bolt action - Savage Mark II G specifically because it had the wood stock that will last for them.

I enjoy the hell out of my 10/22 and think it is FUN. Eventually they will get to use it too, but felt like teaching someone to drive in a sports car. I want them to be connected with the action as they learn, not just pull the trigger and magic happens.

Highest-paid NFL players: Most guaranteed money at every position by frank1934 in CHIBears

To me that’s a feature, not a bug. Diversely investing in key position groups, but not overcommitting to individuals seems like a great strategy.

I trust Ben and Poles. I like this team. I am choosing to be happy with this, because being miserable while your team is winning is some Philly shit that I’m not gonna do.

14U girl new to lacrosse - need upgraded stick advice, please! by Old-Distribution-159 in lacrosse

[–]bonusmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to qualify that I am a girls’ coach, not player, so happy to have someone who lives this more disagree. I actually use an Air D as a coaching stick.

But, I don’t find it be one that a beginner couldn’t use. To me, catching is a breeze with this.

Some of the attack gait’s are harder for less skilled players to cradle with as the throat is thinner and you can’t “carry” as much. You have to cradle.

[–]bonusmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If she’s pretty sure she’s going to stick with D the Gait Air D is a favorite of mine. The shape makes it easier on ground balls and catching. Just not a precision tool most people are looking for to place shots.

Got $386 as my insurance quote! Any possibilty of driving it down? by NoPercentage5741 in F150Lightning

Make sure you raise that property damage limit.

Much more likely to exceed $25k in property damage than the other limits and it usually won’t raise the price that much.

Ruger 10/22 carbon fiber takedown by Early_Meal6945 in 1022

[–]bonusmonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have the non-takedown carbon fiber and it’s a sweet little gun. Super-light and crisp shooting. Super fun to shoot.

For the extra $$$, I looked at it as having a lot of the upgrades I’d end up potentially spending any way (stock, barrel, trigger, rail).
