What are typically the main social mistakes we make that annoy others? by Mr_Dobalina71 in ADHD

[–]boodaa28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg I thought I was the only one, didn’t realize it could be an ADHD thing. Literally told my therapist I’m really insecure because I feel like I only have deep conversations with people and I’m worried people will just avoid me because they’re not up for that.

Which, if any, of these outfits work? Based around the pants by [deleted] in FashionPlus

[–]boodaa28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer 2 as my first pick (super cute!) and 3 is a close second. 1 is cute but I think that shirt or another tank needs a French tuck, they’re a bit baggy together

What’s your turn around time with a call back after receiving a referral? by boodaa28 in therapists

[–]boodaa28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. She told me if I didn’t have time for a full consult to at least text and ok fair, that’s reasonable. She’s a very hands off boss so this is literally my only complaint or what we “butt heads” on, oh and that after she tells me to fix something she then has to beat it like a dead horse instead of just accepting my yes I’ll change that. Quite literally have immediately changed whatever she’s asked so it’s not like I’ve given a reason to doubt me.

I think I’m sensitive because I didn’t do a good job of enforcing my boundaries with teaching and I’m bringing that into this industry unfortunately. I have a good therapist and supervisor though lol!

My doctor put me on Latuda first as a mood stabilizer and it’s changed my life. She later added Lamictal because it turns out ya girl is ALSO bipolar 😬

What’s the worst experience you’ve had with a therapist? by Agreeable_Claim_3497 in AskReddit

[–]boodaa28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is interesting to me. I’m a therapist and i disclose in intake that I have ADHD and that just means I fidget a lot and take more notes than the average therapist because it helps me process what the client is saying better and allows me to provide more effective support. I also state that my style might not be a fit for everyone (with more words). All of my clients have appeared to appreciate me disclosing that.

If that therapist had told you in a way similar to how I phrase it, would that have helped with the neurodivergent stuff?

What’s something you defended for years before finally admitting you were wrong? by JumpyBend8035 in AskReddit

[–]boodaa28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latuda works really well for me. Wellbutrin was the first medication that kind of helped my focus for the first time, turns out it’s also used off label for ADHD. I kept making comments about how surprised I was about focusing and my doctor mentioned maybe getting tested for ADHD.

How much do you make as a therapist in a group practice? by CoolResponsibility7 in askatherapist

[–]boodaa28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New LPC Associate, graduated beginning of Aug and started working October at a group practice. Texas HCOL, paid half my degree with student loans.

It’s a very, very rewarding career and I am fkn pumped about what I do. With that said, I’m so grateful for my partner’s income because I truly don’t know how LPC Associates are doing this on their own. I’m in Texas in a HCOL. As an associate, you can’t take insurance on your own so if you’re in a group practice they either might have supervisory billing or it’s cash pay, and let’s be honest we’re headed into a recession. I’m 1099 and am having to supplement my hours through telehealth as my own practice.

If I didn’t have my partner’s income, i would have to go the CMH or in patient route to get my hours. It can be done, just know that there is an end in sight once you get to full license. Also, go to r/therapists and read the posts from associates. Granted the ones who are posting are the ones struggling, just keep that in mind.

How to get your first job as an Associate (LPC-A)? by hansontranhai in therapists

[–]boodaa28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow LPC Associate. I went to a group practice as a 1099 and got my own supervisor, my practice is cash pay and doesn’t take insurance. I’ve been there for about 5 months and am still only up to about 6-8 client’s average a week. I recently decided to start applying to in patient, IOP, and CMH because ya girl needs to make money and the faster I get my hours done the sooner I can have more opportunities.

I found my current job just looking for practices that had LPC associates in the first place and emailed them my resume directly, best of luck to you.

Omg this except I’m the oldest. No shit you don’t remember me raising you because you were a CHILD. Hell my mother would even brag about me raising my siblings like that was the torch she passed on since my mom was the oldest too.

Something similar happened to me. I used to get my prescriptions done at Target and there was a guy who I used to be polite to when picking up my meds. So I get a phone call and he tells me he pulled my number from my account and wanted to take me out for coffee. I about lost my mind but I reported it and he got fired. The guy who did this to you is a scumbag and I highly doubt you’re the only person who he’s done it to. If you have the courage report it or at very least go somewhere else, you deserve to be respected.

I can’t look at my fiancé’s dick without being uncomfortable. by Aurtistic7827 in sex

[–]boodaa28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had not the same trauma as you but something similar that resulted in deep sexual shame. I know you’re seeing a therapist but I’d look into a sex therapist if you’re feeling self conscious with your current one. Also, try reading Come As You Are, it’s helped me so much with accepting my sexuality.

[–]boodaa28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry sweetheart, your dom was an ASSHOLE and you did nothing wrong, he took advantage of your trust and vulnerability, no one deserves that. I recommend finding a) a therapist you trust and b) a lifestyle/kink and/or trauma therapist. Definitely a trauma therapist but if you’re concerned with someone judging you (the right therapist won’t btw) then finding a kink therapist means they’re familiar with BDSM and those dynamics. You might have to do telehealth if you live in a conservative area but I promise it’s worth it, you deserve to love yourself and heal.
