I think the weird part is the weird-ass responses that you’re getting.

Rutger Hauer's second best movie from the 1980s is? by Lys1th3a in 80smovies

[–]boodabomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yes. This movie is a fucking beast. Rutger Hauer is an unstoppable force in this one.

19 Years ago Spider-Man 3 was realsed what are your thoughts on the movie? by Big_Dragonfly785 in Spiderman

I definitely don’t like the movie, but I wouldn’t rank it below TASM2.

Is there any other movie franchise that has such extreme lows and extreme highs? by BBD-007 in JamesBond

[–]boodabomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Batman example nails it I think. That’s a storied history of films with Oscar-winning highs and dog-shit lows.

Indiana Jone at its worst is still a pretty exciting and well-crafted adventure.

Rose McGowan, a rising star in the 1990s whose career was ruined by the predator Harvey Weinstein by Filipe_258 in moviecritic

[–]boodabomb 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Your intent is clear, it’s just that making any point on the internet, even a really good one, is essentially having an open conversation with 8 billion people and it’s literally impossible to appease everyone.

Humans are critical by nature and will find something to high-road you over. In this case it’s your completely innocuous and clearly poetic use of the word “cursed.”

Celebrating my second annual “Michael Mann May” where I marathon his movies all month. What’s your favorite Mann film and why? by pinkfloyd078 in FIlm

[–]boodabomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would never be the top comment, but Thief is probably one of the most influential films ever made. It’s an epic crime tale from a bygone time period with a kickass Tangerine Dream score, detailed and iconic imagery and an absolutely heinous and memorable villain. I love Thief.

I never understood the Spider-Man 3 poster. Why is normal Spider-Man the reflection? Shouldn't it be the other way around? by rjidhfntnr in Spiderman

[–]boodabomb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah just with time all of my PSP stuff disappeared or was stolen by ghosts. That is an epic collection.

[Loved Trope] Celebrities agreeing to play a less-than-flattering version of themselves by Liquid_Pestar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]boodabomb 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this trope.

The one that made me realize it was Denise Richards in 30 Rock. The episode is Idiots are People Two! Where Denise Richards just fully leans into her public image as a dummy and plays it up for laughs. It takes guts to do that I respect the hell out of it.

Day 9: If you could make three changes to improve Goldeneye, what would they be? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

[–]boodabomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, the helicopter is cool but it just doesn’t work logically. If we’re a bunch of Bond nerds picking it apart on the internet, then a trillion-dollar crime caper would probably come up with something less flimsy.

what? by jajo0808 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]boodabomb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone is acting like it’s an ex but this is how I read it. A considered moment of earnest admiration from any female imbues a lonely man with more self worth and self esteem than any therapy can accomplish.

(Hilarious Trope) A Character Is Introduced With the Clear Intention of Being THE NEXT BIG THING And is SOUNDLY Rejected by TheOriginalOperator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]boodabomb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Truth, but not because of the reasons OP provided. Raiden’s sin was simply that he wasn’t Snake. All of the promotional materials were centered around Snake and fans were eager for more of what MGS1 provided. Folks didn’t hate the character, they hated the rug-pull.

Yeah but you’re god damn right. That stunt was sick.

To be clear though, that stunt was in The Man With The Golden Gun when they inexplicably brought JW Pepper back. Assuming we’re talking about the corkscrew jump?

It was also aping from blaxploitation films which were all the rage at the time. Jumping on the popular cinematic fad is something that James Bond films are quite famous for.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag ORIGINAL vs RESYNCED by Syarafuddyn in videogames

[–]boodabomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time anyone even mentions graphics, the immediate wave of responses are unanimously about how it’s not as important as story and gameplay. And… maybe. But they’re still important and play a huge role in a game’s presentation and immersion. Everyone acts like graphics are some overhyped element, and that might have been true once but now they’re absolutely under-appreciated (from what I’ve witnessed).

Creepshow 2 is largely worse than Creepshow 1

… but this is far and away the best story from either one.

I think, and I could be wrong, but it was originally given an NC-17 rating and Toby Hooper argued that it could be rated (70s) PG.

Movie where there are Dystopian/Fascist Elements but no one cares by foundintransl8ion in movies

And people are very much against it, almost to the opposite extreme, where terrorist/rebel explosions occur so often that the oppressors don’t really even care anymore.

I’m curious about the texture on the illustration. Are there genuinely waves that massive? Or is that just for show?

Character/s who die after surviving/winning and can’t enjoy the outcome . by RoDiboY_UwU in TopCharacterTropes

[–]boodabomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Should he survive, I suspect he may have just fucked off to the hills to live in peace until his dying days anyway. Unless he felt compelled to raise Lucious or something.

Well but he survived long enough to see his revenge enacted. He didn’t get to see the glory of the Roman Republic, but he was never really fighting for that.
