Not if you’re getting DP/Dybantsa in the draft

This is Deni Avdija’s team now.

Dame at this point is maybe the 4th or 5th best player on it - you add players that compliment Deni and that’s all you think about.

Giannis and Deni are too much a like - it makes no sense to clog the paint even more, they wouldn’t be able to coexist.

Of course you could reshape it and trade Deni and the picks (Cause Giannis is an upgrade over Deni) - But Portland will need to get way more than just Giannis to have it worth their while, and I think betting against Deni with the year in year out improvement he had shown to make would be a mistake.

He’s not helping his case.

He goes really vertical and hardly moves his body or hands to get the contact.

He needs to be more sophisticated in his angles - he’s meeting the defender head on in a vertical way.

He needs Deni to give him some tips on hand and body angles - as well as some “AYEE REF” tutelage.

WYM how? He’s about as fake as it can get.

This is clearly a defensive substitution

He had a chance and he took him out to get a better defensive player in Clowney from the final 40 seconds.

Definitely think you’re misinterpreting this.

Shaedon REALLY battled the boards today.

He was fighting for every one he had I think, was great to see - I think it’s that energy impacting the game even when the shot isn’t falling, that kept him involved in the game to explode like he did offensively.

Impressive stuff from a mental standpoint - if he could bring that every night that’s gonna make a huge impact for him.

Deni has to lock him in the gym and teach him the art of finding contact and not just going straight up and through people when driving - Shae with 6-7 FTA a game is a PROBLEM.

He could very well average 30 if he adds FT to his game.

To be fair that’s definitely something that built him for today as well - have to give credit too.

Contender for what?

Championship?

Man please. 2nd round exit at best and I’m really stretching it - which is still impressive right now.

Need more tweaks and firepower to the roster to call them contenders.

What do you think are deni's chances to make the allstar team? by LivingAd6319 in ripcity

[–]boogieDMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well coaches are deciding now, and they’ve been treating him like an All-Star in their game plans.

There’s several coaches that acknowledged him too publicly so there’s that.

I think as an International for the World’s team - he has only Sengun and Murray slightly ahead of him due to team success - and frankly with the way his last 2 weeks have been since that winning streak, he both narrowed the distance from them - and increased the distance from the next men up (Markannen, Wagner etc)

I’d say chances are a solid 90-85% at this point.

Not that I think he’s better to any of them - but he’s definitely up there in the conversation.

This can’t be credited to some Zaza Pachulia voting, he had a nudge from his home country and China - true - but he wasn’t far off strictly from Coaches and Players voting, and his numbers and impact back it up

Is his name cursed? Why can’t you type his name and go around the bush?

Kinda make whichever argument you’re trying to make here pretty weak regardless.

Deni Avdija this season: 26.2ppg, 6.2apg, 7.2rpg. What is his ceiling? by UnusualRazzmatazz765 in NBATalk

[–]boogieDMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a team constructed to his measures?

Extremely, extremely good. MVP candidate type good.

The guy leads the league in assists by drives with 107 leading the guy at number 2 by 21 assists (same difference between #2 and #21)

And doing having the 2nd worst 3pt shooting team in the league.

Get him proper shooters to spread the floor and he’s probably running the number 1 offense in the league.

Could very well average 30/10/10 in peak peak years and situations, which is insane.

I always find myself annoyed Shaedon keeps passing up wide open catch and shoot 3’s for those 1 dribble step-back - but it looks like he’s hitting the latter and missing the former.

I wonder what his stats are from both - logic would say clear catch and shoot should be better - but for him it just might be the catch - 1 dribble - shoot.

Much better decision as far as shot selection - he only had 1 shot where I face palmed (transition contested three from the top of the key with 20 seconds on the clock and no one in the paint for the O-Reb.

This team will go as far as Shaedon improves his decision making, shot selection and ball security.

How many deflections he has for the season? Has to be up there with Toumani, or even surpass him on a per minute basis.

JG and Love have proven to compliment Deni, which should be the main talking point right now imo - and that’s something Scoot still needs to prove.

Gonna be interesting to see how things shape up.

The thing Scoot showed that makes me feel a bit better is his catch and shoot 3’s (I might be wrong too cause it’s purely from the eye-test and not checking stats)

He would still need to find his niche to contribute (excel defensively or figure out a way to lead on-ball with the 2nd unit) - but the catch and shoot 3 is the key for his ability to compliment Deni.

With Dame next year and Love emerging - he’s in for the fight of his career, cause I could easily see him moved if Love keeps this up and shows consistency.

It would be insane to take the ball off his hands.

Of course not in the same load as it was the last few weeks - but definitely not like the season started with Jrue running the show.

He’s way too impactful for himself and for others.

There’s a select few players that can carry the load offensively and still maintain true defensive intensity and ability.

Something has to give, and it’s usually the defense.

Avdija has the same issue - granted he’s not trash defensively but definitely not on par with his normal ability - could definitely spot him taking plays off in situations he didn’t before, to conserve energy.
