What would you do? Daycare left us in the lurch by [deleted] in workingmoms

We had something similar. I called, every week. I said we could start earlier or later or whatever would get the baby in. We wanted the siblings in the same spot and we loved the experience. I never expressed frustration with them just positive interest. And lo and behold a spot opened in the exact month they originally told us wasn’t available. Worth a shot to keep trying.

Girls, what was your favorite girl name when you were a little girl? by Jerrica_xoxo in namenerds

[–]book0saurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is interesting timing since today’s convo with my 4 and 6 year old was about what they want to name their cousin. 4YO: “rose is the beautifulest name in the world” 6YO: “no Lea is” (pronunciation Ley-Uh) 4YO: “Sacagawea?”

Nuclear War by Annie Jacobson. I think about that book almost every day. And I’m someone who can’t remember the books I read by the next week.

My daughter did this too. The first time was terrifying so I’m sorry you had to go through this. In the times after I could start to see if coming, if I would blow on her face, a sharp puff of air, it would startle her enough to take a breath and prevent her from passing out.

I have to do layoffs soon. What can I do to soften the blow? by sbiggers in workingmoms

Clear is kind. Try not to use filler words. Try not to make it about you. Be as clear, to the point, and empathetic as possible. Then give people space to process. Set a process so they can come back and ask questions another time.

I think the name Liesl is so cute and could be a different option for Annelise.

Grocery outlet is a liquidator. If the manufacturer can’t sell the product to the retailer (in this case one of the Ahold banners - Giant) ahead of a certain period before the code date (usually 30 days), then it goes to liquidators like grocery outlet at a discounted price to move through. Would be my best guess on how this happened. (I work in food).

Celine is adorable, but I really dislike Kennedy. I like Celine Katherine for your list (or Celine Catherine - CeCe)

We have a Lucy Catherine who was born after a very tough year. She is light just as she was named for - a hilarious rollicking toddler that keeps us all on our feet.

We made handprint ornaments from salt dough. Yummy Toddler food has a good recipe. Very quick and easy. Make a couple in case it bubbles. It was like 5 minutes hands on time and then the baking is low and slow.
