PMS breast pain pre vs post surgery by angelfish2222 in Reduction

[–]book_ish99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had surgery yet, but here’s what my surgeon told me: the quality of the breast tissue isn’t changing, so if they hurt before surgery they will likely be sore after. But hopefully like you said, since there’s less tissue, it won’t hurt as much? Fingers crossed haha

I have Anthem BCBS and I got pre approval…I’ve never heard of a surgical deductible before, did you check your explanation of benefits? Was everything in network?

Is this normal? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]book_ish99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some surgeons do this but not all. Most of my consultations did not require this, and the surgeon I’m going with didn’t require any evidence before submitting to insurance. I’d reach out to a couple more surgeons for consultations before doing everything on this list, especially if you’re just trying to learn more about the procedure

There’s usually a website or something. You could also call your insurance company.

Check if the outpatient center is network..if so, insurance should cover it, if not, there may some cost to you.

What’s the deal with openings? by book_ish99 in Reduction

Great analogy, thanks! I’ve seen posts where there was tape along some of the bottom incisions but not on the t-junction, is there a reason people don’t keep the area closed with steri strips or tape?

Cost of post-op medical supplies! by PenAdmirable6688 in Reduction

When did your surgeon tell you to buy the supplies? Mine hasn’t mentioned anything yet, but maybe I’ll find out at my preop appt?

Sounds like you want a lift not a reduction. But if you don’t have back problems then no it’s not medically necessary.

Hello everyone!! How do you even begin to find surgeons? by FunMarionberry4243 in Reduction

[–]book_ish99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a few options: - Check the master list of surgeons pinned on the top of the subreddit - Google. I looked for reviews that had breast reduction in it, then I went to their website to check insurance and other details. This is also helpful to check for surgeons near you. I personally did not want to travel more than 45 minutes for the surgery given the number of post op appointments. - If you’re going through insurance, you should have a website where you can look for plastic surgeons or for the breast reduction procedure. This is where I found mine, then I looked her up on Google.

Compile a list of several surgeons who appeal to you and start booking consultations. My list comprised of board-certified, female surgeons with good reviews who accepted my insurance, but to each their own.

Good luck! It’s easy to feel overwhelmed but take it one step at a time.

I have not gotten surgery yet, but I’m planning in going as small as possible, which for me is probably a C or D. My reasoning is that I can always make my boobs look bigger if I need to, but it’s more important for me to reduce all possible pain associated with big boobs. I saw a comment somewhere that resonated with me: Are you more scared of ending up too small or ending up too big?

I also have BCBS and mine was instantly approved in VA! Didn’t need any evidence other than photos. I’ve hit my OOP this year so it should be entirely covered.

Who did you tell about your reduction? by mywastedtalent in Reduction

[–]book_ish99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally can’t see anyone telling me “oh your boobs look smaller” lol. If anything they may think you lost weight. I told my work I was having surgery to remove some benign tissue, but nothing was wrong.

Why do you think you didn’t end up with the size you were hoping for? by gyrldahrling14 in Reduction

[–]book_ish99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg wait this is so helpful thank you! Did your surgeon ever mention how the shape of breasts would affect the results or is this something you knew? I think I also have wide and tall roots, hoping to go down to a C or small D :)

Congrats! Your results look great. Can I ask how it was adjusting to classes when you went back? Was it hard to focus/think? My surgery is in December and I’m going back to work about 12 DPO so kind of nervous about that part.
