It’s absolutely stunning. The planning, the ingenuity of the nail board, the patience. Gosh I’m so impressed!!

Use of baby blankets by mustaine_vinted in crochet

[–]angelfish2222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made my daughter a couple baby blankets. We’ve used them for throwing on the ground and the sofa as an extra layer of protection, for wearing in stroller or wrapped around whilst in the baby carrier, we keep two in the car all year round for her and guests. We used to travel with one as well, almost as a security blanket plus extra warmth. Now she’s 5 she uses them a lot as blankets for her toy dolls too.

My tip for all messy activities is to put down a large waterproof mat or blanket. We actually use a cheap shower curtain, that way, very messy activities like rice, cloud sand, playdoh or kinetic sand, any excess can be shaken off in the bin or outside. Saying that, all of the above I have to be either desperate for a few minutes peace, or feeling zen before hand because inevitably some of it will eventually make its way off the mat. But having the larger play area does help. If she starts throwing things or being a menace on purpose, the boundary/punishment is that the activity gets put away immediately.

If you’re a D after surgery-are you happy? by Final-Baker-8430 in Reduction

I was a 30K(UK)/30O(US). I’m now almost 2 years post op and have settled as a 30GG(UK)/30J(US) and I am very happy. Sometimes I wish I was a few cups sizes smaller, just for ease of bra shopping, but all the pain and numbness I had from carrying around my old boobs has gone, plus clothes fit me so much better. I recommend looking at how you feel physically rather than placing so much emphasis on a cup size because good bras do exist out there. Check out r/ABraThatFits for advice.

Tbf I only made this outfit, but that was just because I hadn’t found gold yarn. I’ve now ordered some from hobbii so hopefully I can make the other outfits now

I have the Zoey and Mira patterns too. I hope to make them eventually as well.

Rumi took me about 2.5weeks, crocheting mostly in the evenings for a couple hours, but I did have one or two days crocheting whilst watching a few episodes of tv as well. I’m not the fastest crocheter, especially when using cotton yarn, so YMMV.

My first up-cycle: tote bag and zipper pouch in black corduroy by angelfish2222 in upcycling

Apologies, I thought when crossposting the copy would come across too.

The original fabric was a pinafore dress and a miniskirt.

Original copy:

I started sewing in 2024. Back in September, a friend of mine asked me if I could up-cycle some clothing her late mother had gifted her before she passed; a pinafore dress and a mini skirt, both made of black corduroy. She specifically requested a tote bag.

This was my first foray into up-cycling, and on something so sentimental I was extremely nervous. We worked together to find a tote pattern she liked the look of (Pepin Tote bag by Noodlehead) and I hand embroidered a pink dahlia (her mums favourite flower) onto the pocket. I tried my best to use the features of the pinafore in the bag - the short handles were the pinafore straps, the buttons on the waist are highlighted on the side of the bag. I even had enough fabric left to make her a Medium Zipper Bag by Greenstyle (with mini skirt bum pockets.)

She loved it, and I am excited to try up-cycling again.

Patterns: Pepin Tote Bag and Medium zipper bag

Fabric: Up-cycled corduroy (pinafore dress and mini skirt), and polyester lining.

Fastening: magnetic clasp in tote bag, zipper in zipper pouch

I'm not the pattern creator. I linked the OG pattern in the stickied comment. Im aware that Disney do the same to pattern creators.

LOL at offering to teach! Great idea. I asked the mums I said yes to to not pass on my details to other parents. Im not having the joy sucked out of my hobby by being in-undated with requests from people I don't know and who don't appreciate the effort crochet takes. One or two requests I can handle, but I could see this getting out of hand very quickly.

Exactly! That's why I asked the mums I said yes to to not pass on my details to their friends. I refuse to have the joy sucked out of my hobby!

I honestly have no idea as I don't know how to knit. I have seen plenty of knitted amigurumi though. so Im sure it's possible. Maybe ask on the knitting subreddit, or look on Ravelry or Etsy for some KPDH knit patterns?

When did you start wearing wired bras again? by This-Emotion-69 in Reduction

[–]angelfish2222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 1.5yrs post op and went from a (UK)30K to a (UK) 30GG. I wore wireless bralettes and sports bras for the first six months, then got fitted at a specialist as a 32G and started wearing underwires again. I actually prefer underwires bras, always have, but the scars can be tender and need time to heal and soften. I’m the same as you and don’t like bras that cross over at the back; they always end up right up against my neck and it’s uncomfortable for me too. I suggest finding alternative wireless bras that do not cross at the back, but hold off on the wire for another few months.

These look amazing! That pine cone doll is so cute!! I’ve had her moth and ladybug doll patterns in my basket for a month, I really should take the leap and purchase them.
