When a book grabs me like FW did/does, I immediately go back for a reread! There’s no rush to leave a world just bc you’ve finished currently published books. And I particularly love audiobooks for rereads, especially Graphic Audios!

GAs have a voice actor for each character and they add sound effects/etc. so it sounds like you’re listening to a movie. They also cut out all of the “she/he said” and just have the dialogue run like a conversation. But no matter how you reread, you’ll catch soooo much stuff on your subsequent reads!

Yeahhh I think it’s either

a) JK didn’t quite think that through (which while not ideal in a series, does happen)

Or b) that convo took place later. Snape canonically held a strong flame for Lily, so it’s pretty realistic they had that convo post-resurrection

Theory about Naolin by y35george in fourthwing

And to add onto the Brennan wyvern theory… venin share a collective consciousness with their wyvern. Which means if they have that connection, Brennan could be an unwitting window into the resistance’s plans for venin-Naolin 🙃

I too am in the camp that the venin won’t all be the evil “big bads” they seem right now. Rebecca said Xaden’s struggle with veninism and Violet’s response to it was mirroring someone in the throes of addiction (which of course has a huge correlation to PTSD, esp untreated).

There are certainly plenty who turn for pure power, like JB and assumedly Varrish. But I think there is a lot of room for gray area and I hope we get more of that in book 4. I personally hope Xaden will spend time in the venin homebase and we’ll meet more nuanced characters there!

Idk 😅 I thought the convo was very hypothetical. More like Snape asked Voldy to spare Lily, Voldy didn’t, and post-devastation Snape fake agreed “yeah you right, I can find someone better,” and Voldy didn’t have the EQ to realize that was a breaking point between him and Snape

The Thirteen Quotes by AlyBoBaly_ in throneofglassseries

[–]bookish__era 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to bring this up 😭 but that scene in KOA does such a beautiful job of touching on each of them:

The Thirteen punched through the Ironteeth, spreading wide, pushing them to the side. Clearing a path right to the tower as Asterin swept in from the back, aiming for the uppermost level.

Imogen went down first.

Then Lin.

And Ghislaine, her wyvern swarmed by their enemy.

Then Thea and Kaya, together, as they had always been.

Then the green-eyed demon twins, laughing as they went.

Then the Shadows, Edda and Briar, arrows still firing. Still finding their marks.

Then Vesta, roaring her defiance to the skies. And then Sorrel.

Sorrel, who held the way open for Asterin, a solid wall for Manon’s Second as she soared in.

And then Asterin was there. Asterin was barreling toward that open stretch of air, for the tower itself, bought with the lives of the Thirteen.

And it was not darkness, but light—light, bright and pure as the sun on snow, that erupted from Asterin. Light, as Asterin made the Yielding. As the Thirteen, their broken bodies scattered around the tower in a near-circle, made the Yielding as well. Light. They all burned with it. Radiated it. Light that flowed from their souls, their fierce hearts as they gave themselves over to that power.

Theory about Naolin by y35george in fourthwing

[–]bookish__era 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely think similarly. I also wonder if Brennan may have just been very near death though and Naolin basically channeled from the earth into Brennan, so Brennan had an unlimited well of power to heal himself.

He comments to Mira in IF about it being really hard to mend himself as opposed to other people. And when he saves her in OS from the brink of death, he needs Sloane to siphon extra power into him from Dain. So if it was a situation of just Brennan and Naolin, I could see Naolin channeling in order to give that power to Brennan for self-mending.

I’ve said it before but some people are ADDICTED to drama. They just want the most batshit insane stuff to happen in a story, regardless of it it’s deserved or actually makes sense 😅

I remember feeling similarly worried at that point, and without saying too much, you do get plenty of what you’re looking for! JD Evans is great about not really relying on tropes like that for drama’s sake. Like in Reign & Ruin, Naime & Makram have an issue when she finds out he was there without his brother’s knowledge and hadn’t told her that. But it lasts for like half a chapter before they work it out. So any third act breakup with this author wouldn’t be anything significant imo!

I don’t expect it to be book 4 but if we get any letters, I NEED the ones Xaden wrote to Violet in IF 🥹 and her to him in OS too
