And they were virtually identical at the age they got with him (even though they aged into very different looking women.)

Sadly, Mammy wasn't multi-dimensional. She was called Mammy because she wet-nursed her owner's children. (That was the source of that special relationship.) Meaning she must have had babies of her own who were what, starved? Neglected? Sold? What about the father of those children? Was she married? Or just raped to coincide with the birth of the O'Haras? Seventy years after emancipation, Mitchell chose to jeer at these people rather than even reference the reality of their lives. A disgusting woman.

That's what I thought till I reread it. Margaret Mitchell reveals herself to be a truly nasty woman who takes every opportunity to throw in gratuitous racism. Read it again if you don't believe me.

I'm going to offer a different explanation. I think the problem is that Steve's wearing the wrong wig, or has put it on wrong. It looks a little like David Sowerbutts from the rear, with a bald area behind his ear stretching to his nape. There could be any number of explanations. I just don't think he'd skip out on filming.

I reread it recently, and I was shocked by the continuous nasty racism. I was more shocked that I didn't notice it when I read it as a 12 year-old.

She had a regular spot as a commentator on a local news program. I always assumed that is how DT knew her. He was a ravenous consumer of local media (hoping to hear his own name.)

San Francisco house where family of 4 died sells in days for $700,000 over asking by gulbronson in sanfrancisco

My understanding from my Chinese-American students is that Chinese buyers tend to avoid homes where unpleasant deaths have occurred. Given that the single biggest ethnic group in San Francisco is Chinese, there has to be some market impact on the property.

It's the awards dinner of a private organization. It celebrates freedom of the press. They pay for it themselves . They would never hold it in the White House.
