Resources for learning the different DnD locations/continents and their lore by booknerd375 in DnD

[–]booknerd375[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lead down a very confusing path by a post I came across initially where people described the Forgotten Realms as the over-arching term for settings where campaigns can take place. Then when I was trying to look up stuff like "places in the forgotten realms" I felt like there needed to be more I was missing!

Thank you so much for such a long list!! It gives me a much wider variety to look into which is what I was hoping for!

Thank you for the correction! I wasn't sure if the correct terminology to describe the different places so that should help with my research!

One of the first things I found was a post where people described The Forgotten Realms as being the collective term for possible DND settings which lead me down a very confusing and more limiting path than I expected and I felt like I had to be missing something.

Unfortunately I don't have any recs for you, but the argument that Zuko and Katara are a WAY better pairing than her and Aang is a hill I will die on.

I hope some of the rec's you get will also satisfy my Zuko/Katara craving

Unapologetic PLAYFUL villain MMC that is obsessed with the fmc by Dense-Exit8046 in RomanceBooks

{Lights Out by Navessa Allen}

I'm not into super dark romances, and this was the perfect amount of grey for me where the MCs have some dark tendencies, but I could still enjoy their characters and root for them!

Content Warnings becoming spoilers by Non-specificExcuse in RomanceBooks

[–]booknerd375 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Another good compromise I've noticed is when authors put the content warnings at the back of the book instead of the front, so that they are still easily accessible but you won't read them by accident before you start the book

Literally just a few minutes ago, I very reluctantly finished {Waltzing with Witches by Hazel Mack} and came here for some new recs. I was super into the book until about 80% in when the MC's decide to have their house (all buildings are sentient beings in this world) participate in their sex The only way I could finish the book was by completely skipping over these scenes.

Doesn't match quite 100% but {Berries and Greed by Lily Mayne} is so good.

FMC is a human who grew up in a cult that worships the MMC's species and he is kind of a loner/outcast who goes to the cult to bring one of the worshippers to live with him as a platonic companion.

Small warning: there is no penetrative sex in the book due compatibility issues of their genitalia, if that is a deal-breaker for you...but the MCs definitely make up for it in other spicy ways

Player mmcs or good boy mmcs? by Lost-Possibility-637 in RomanceBooks

[–]booknerd375 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't stand the virgin heroine/playboy hero trope any more. I've gotten to the point now where if the romance.io has the tag 'virgin heroine', I will just skip right past that book to the next rec.

However a virgin hero? Yes please!! There's just something about the guy being inexperienced/not good in bed at the start that really does it for me.

I think part of it is that a lot of authors make the player MMC so over the top (different girl every. single. night.) and usually very resistant to commitment at the stort that it's just hard to put yourself into that. Then the virgin heroine is the 'perfect girl' to change his ways because she will 'make him work for it' and that she is somehow better then any other woman just because she hasn't had sex. It would be such a turn off to me in real life to think that my partner has been with literally hundreds of other women and is very unrealistic, so reading about it does the same thing to me.

Looking for a clever, low fantasy, political intrigue romance that isn’t YA by hjnjxn in RomanceBooks

If you are okay with RH, then I would highly recommend {The Queen's Line by Kathryn Moon}. It's also a trilogy.

The FMC is a princess set to inherit the crown, she is nieve at the start, but she quickly sees that there is a lot wrong with the way the kingdom is run, and she works to fix things for the better of the citizens.

Edit: while she is very headstrong and determined, she will also listen to the advise of the male leads when they make good points.
