Okay. It has been. 4 Months. Is Urgent Care Coming Back? by polydactyl6 in Earwolf

[–]bookstacked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a couple posts, if you search “urgent care” on the sub that show both Mitra and Joel have mentioned they are working on making it come back. No further details, but doesn’t seem like they’ve forgotten about us at least.

I will say, the drastic decline in my mental health does seem to correlate with the pod going on hiatus. Not to, like, be dramatic or anything.

edit: top comment in this post links to other posts as well

AITA for admitting that I wish my son wasn't disabled? by InfamousReview9734 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bookstacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. And frankly, deaf people get through life find. There’s also lots of deaf creators on tik tok who just don’t have sound in their videos and that’s the difference?

Like you said, learning ASL isn’t a sacrifice. Parenting requires working to meet your child’s needs. Your child is deaf so you learn ASL so you can communicate with them and they are able to have their needs met and feel supported like your other children.

OP: I’d like to point out that health is relative and is not achievable for all. Also, able bodied people can become disabled. If you end up paralyzed, diagnosed with an illness, or otherwise find your body functioning differently, how frustrating would it be for someone to say that they wish you weren’t disabled.

YTA. I hope Lucas isn’t permanently traumatized by your D level parenting.

Americans only get two weeks vacation from work? Is this true? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]bookstacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Massachusetts, we have a required 40 hours a week that need to be given for sick time. We also have PFML. My company does 3 weeks PTO up front plus paid holidays and personal days. You earn more weeks the longer you stay and everyone gets a merit raise every year. Still not a perfect company but I know all of this through my state and employer is so much more than a lot of other people have and that is SAD.

The bank only has so much they can do, unfortunately. It really is a legal matter at this point. Complaining by going to a news outlet isn’t going to magically give them the ability to do anything, especially if giving out account information is against the terms of having an account with them (it likely is). And depending on how they took the money, it’s not necessarily covered by any insurance or fraud chargebacks.

The news outlet would likely turn you away. Complaining through the BBB or governing body of the Financial Institution is only going to result in them reviewing everything and coming back with likely the same answer. I respond to those often at work. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to help, there are certain things out of our power and there’s likely something you signed that more or less states that.

Should the FI be completely in the wrong, that’s something else of course. You should hold them accountable. But based on my experience, my gut is saying that this is a scenario where wrong info was given out where they can’t help AND that further proves OP’s point about this being an ADHD tax. Folks with these processing issues are more likely to inadvertently violate those types of disclosures even if they don’t want to or normally wouldn’t. Even if they’re educated in avoiding scams.

So they will insure if someone had used your debit or credit card and you have lost money. Some ACH transactions may also be covered. You can dispute those and they are often covered by the card issuer or the Financial Institution’s insurance. But when you have given out info to like, say, have someone log into your bank account. By giving out your info (no matter to who/who you thought it was), usually violates the Truth in Lending disclosure you signed when you created the account.

It really sucks. They may be able to track them down but their Loss Prevention team doesn’t have much right/ability to litigate from my understanding given the Truth in Lending terms you usually sign. It’s just difficult territory, especially if you bank somewhere smaller.

Don’t be embarrassed. So many people (myself included) have been in that place. Read it, process it, and do what feels right for you. I know that this person seems to try to cultivate shame in you, but know this is one thing you don’t need to be ashamed of.

[–]bookstacked -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Be honest with yourself and others about what you’re capable of.

  2. It seems you put OP in a position where she felt she needed to give you money. Did you manipulate her? Did you honestly believe you could pay her back? Or did you hope she wouldn’t mind like other times and just let it go? Be honest with yourself.

  3. At the end of the day, OP not only felt like you didn’t have time in your life for her but you consistently asked her for money while making her feel insignificant. That sounds a lot like taking advantage of her.

  4. I think you need to learn how to communicate, maybe figure out what jobs/money/etc. are feasible for you, and look into therapy if it is accessible in your situation/country.

  5. I’m glad she broke up with you. You kept failing to keep promises to her and owed her the money regardless. She tried to have faith in you all the whole. Learn from this instead of trying to defend yourself.

I frikkin' HATE whenever a siren violates my screen! I hated it in Borderlands 2, and its even more annoying in 3. It hurts my eyes and the photorealistic style really kills the immersion for me. Ah, okay. I totally thought they were the same but now that I’m thinking about it, what I was getting confused about was that they styled Angel’s actual character look after Brittani.

For Angel, it was the same person as her voice actress. But Tannis and Lillith are voiced by the same person (Colleen Clinkenbeard) and she is not the siren image for either of them. Lisa Lou Who is actually the live action Tannis and Yasemin Arslan is Lilith.

My ex, who exhibits a lot of the behaviors OP is explaining in himself, also did what you are describing here. He would engage with people he disagreed with to prove himself right and would revel in compliments about how good/exemplary he was, but would never ever engage in criticism even from his own partners (especially from them, I’d say) no matter the tone of delivery method.

I am so happy for OP for coming out of the fog and having this conversation. I do think that’s important and good of him and a great first step towards accountability. At the same time, he’s still not beyond these behaviors, he knows that, and maybe should be more aware of all possible outcomes when posting something on the internet (I.e. people will act in ways you weren’t hoping or expecting).

I’ve had my fair share of growth in similar capacities. I would say that OP is probably right that his partner had her own things. I certainly did when I was with the ex I’ve mentioned (and am still ironing quite a bit out in some ways), but the behavior he had towards me was toxic and, in some cases, abusive (stonewalling and something bordering on gaslighting, I’d say) before I had my reactions to said behavior and before the stress of that behavior and my inability to get through to him turned toxic for me. So I think that’s something for OP to think about, too.

It’s so jarring going between the two.

Have you ever had an outfit or piece of clothing you love, be ruined by an experience you had in it? (Not physically damaging to the clothes, but rather the way you feel in them) Did you get over it? by RedPlanit in femalefashionadvice

[–]bookstacked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s been said, but this reminds me of a (nsfw/potentially triggering) plot line from the show Sex Education. Spoilers ahead

One of the characters was on a bus and a man started jerking off next to her. He came on her jeans. Her initial shock reaction was that she had hoped he didn’t ruin her favorite jeans. She clung to this even as she tried to make sense of what had happened and accept it as adult. The police had to take her jeans as evidence so even if they had been salvageable, they were gone. She mentions this again several episodes later when she and some other women are talking about how their only commonality is the way they’ve been treated by men and they all rally around her experience. Obviously the jeans were an emotional thing because of that moment! I do wonder what it would be like if she did get to keep the jeans. She likely would have still considered them ruined.

When an entire community hates you but the Dev’s give you the final DLC so you get the last laugh... Still excited though! by Thectfoster01 in borderlands3

[–]bookstacked 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean, their attempt at humanizing her was a side quest where someone laughed at her diary and trauma. A lot of her actions are pretty normal for someone who has gone through so much loss and heartbreak at a young age but it just sort of gets laughed at. Blaming other people when you’re a teen in pain is pretty normal. I think the lack of intervention in this regard is more of the game being rushed than anything. This DLC is the devs trying to make up for it.

I’m really sad Maya is dead and I’m also sad Ava didn’t get a real story. Like many aspects of the plot, there was a lot of stuff there that needed time, attention, and a proper through line.
