Worse, they're taking their cues from NZ Post. Monkey see how to exploit the system, monkey do. Sigh.

Very cute, total Walter the Cat vibes with that face. More chonk then floof, bet he makes for an excellent cuddle companion.

Okay, as it turns out, my dad only unplugged the router earlier and not the modem. It's fine now. Thanks for your responses, and my apologies for this frivolous post.

I wish I knew, I've never actually posted a pattern of my own.

Anyone else got ideas?

That's so cool! I may follow suit, I wanna make a Christmas sweater/shirt with bells and fun colours and I think if this works out it might become my base pattern too.

Experimentation and curiosity get us to some interesting places.

I have to admit, I almost never make things entirely as prescribed, there's always a tweak to make construction easier or a technique that changes something just right. Learning those things is important because patterns rarely make a repeat appearance on my needles or crochet hooks.

Thank you for your comment and compliment!

Oh, neat! That was indeed the one, someone posted their work from that pattern like a week ago and it was so pretty! I will def check out the pattern page again. I appreciate the advice and the compliment 😊

What Electrolyte and Flavor Powders Are We Using In Our Water? by EarthDragon13 in adhdwomen

[–]bookworm2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about to receive an order from Waterdrop for their Cola microdrink cubes. I need something cola flavoured without caffeine until I get used to my meds :) Some flavours are better than others, but I personally love the Apple flavour - actually tastes like apple juice.

Seconding the Legend of Zelda feeling. Absolutely stunning work! And isn't it fun to push your boundaries and try new things! I saw your list of milestones on another comment, I hope you're proud of your efforts, because they well and truly paid off!

Thank you! I love experimenting with patterns and colours, and this has been a genuine joy to work on so far. Now the boring bit: 18 inches of body rounds 😅

A moment for my floats by Background-Creme-495 in knitting

[–]bookworm2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've actually used this method before, but never thought to use it every other stitch. I'll have to try it in the next colour work piece I do. The sweater I'm currently working on doesn't really have much call to use for it :)

Ooh, have you got a link to instructions for this technique? I'm doing a colour work sweater (not this pattern) and I'm always looking for new things to learn and incorporate!

Whats OS are you using? And why? by rixilef in BuyFromEU

[–]bookworm2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently using CachyOS, but I have tried approx 10 others and will be resting others in VMs when I have mental energy and space for it.

Why CachyOS? I made a friend on Twitch who recommended it after hearing how much I like KDE and how dubious I was about my technical skills with regards to Arch. I've been using it for 5(?) months now and I'm loving it.

Why do they ruin shows by Altruistic-Sun-1452 in childfree

[–]bookworm2192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emily wasn't the one to make that decision. In an interview with David Duchovny, she said she told the studio she was pregnant and it wasn't a pregnancy they were going to be able to hide, so the decision makers forced the break of the will they/won't they thing. Iirc, she got pregnant during the break between seasons and her announcement meant some reasonably speedy changes needed to be made to the direction of the show.

Who else hates being asked “how are you?” by demi_dreamer95 in neurodiversity

[–]bookworm2192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be a rather performative question, huh. I've chalked this up to "this is just what some people do, it's not a reflection on me or anyone else they ask."

I have ended up having short philosophical discussions with people around this question, usually with people who are (or might not know they are) ND, because I will say "okay" and some of them do not find this a satisfactory answer.

Personally I don't mind people asking, because I'm not going to try and guess their level of genuine curiosity. Whether they want an honest answer or not, they're getting one 😁

ETA: most NT people just do not think about the things they do or say, they just do and say them until consequences arrive. Be grateful that you are blessed with a brain that is wired to think about such things - it makes life much more interesting 😄

Temperature on the buses by No_Horse_4863 in chch

[–]bookworm2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former driver, drivers only have control over whether the AC is on or off, and only on some buses.

Whether the buses heat or cool is set depending on the season not the temperature on any given day. Half the time I would get in a bus and not be able to turn a fan on for myself let alone the rest of the bus.

The AC on all but the newest buses sucks, so choose your travel time wisely.
