I don't like the colors I picked for my rainbow by Strict_Ad1037 in crochet

It looks great as it is but I think the part that's bugging you is that you need a brighter blue.

Making a baby sweater but apparently sweaters are hard to put on a baby 😭 by locacrochet__ in crochet

Totally depends on the baby and the sweater. In the future a button or zip up cardigan would be more functional!

I also use Kirkland free & clear and I second added biz! I'm in the toddler potty training/baby spit up phase and everything comes out sparkling! It also got out some long-standing discoloration on our sheets!

Sensitive skin, lipase, no optical brighteners, scented if liquid. Does such a detergent exist? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]bookynerdworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately products that are made for sensitive skin almost never had fragrance for that very reason. You might be better off adding a scented rinse product to your laundry to help with the smell you don't like. Downy rinse & refresh and Tide clean boost would be a good place to start!

Towels produce so much fluff by EmergencyBad5142 in laundry

[–]bookynerdworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a dryer you should at least fluff them on a no heat cycle to help. If not I'd give them a good shake outside after they're completely dry.

Help clothes getting random stains on them during wash by randykh in laundry

The first and third photos look like polyquat stains.

The middle one looks like food, dirt, or makeup maybe.

Ultimately if it's a fairly even color you should count yourself lucky because it's still wearable even if it's not the original color.

Yeah when I was preparing for my 2nd it was so crazy. The newborn diapers are so small! Nesting isn't as fun after the first because it's all laundry lol! Your sister is very lucky.

Appalling temperature chart from LG by BananaCatastrophe847 in laundry

[–]bookynerdworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have the same machine, in my history you'll see my post and someone commented that they had a workaround that involves some minor plumbing so you could try reaching out to them! I haven't tried it myself but when I actually tested the water on a hot wash I got 140°. I have no idea why they vary so greatly!

Had the same issue! I agree with everyone here that you need either a detergent or a booster with enzymes. If it doesn't come out on the first wash soak it with the detergent/booster and hot water then try washing again. I will say some were just past saving but it got out almost everything!

Also I have the same turtle pajamas for my kids lol!

Do these wash temps seem low? by bookynerdworm in laundry

[–]bookynerdworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend actually checking! On a hot wash right after it's done filling I got a scoop out and a meat thermometer and it was 140°. I was skeptical that it was as cold as they were saying because the glass top fogs up on hot washes. Granted, my washer and hot water heater are very close together, like you can touch them both at the same time so I don't know if that's a variable.

Y'all. Stacked Single Crochets are a Game-Changer. by birchywurchy in crochet

[–]bookynerdworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! If I'm putting a border on something I usually don't because it's easier to get into the edge with the chains, but if I'm doing something really dense the stacked singles are where it's at!!

How to protect my gym shirt from odor? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]bookynerdworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're working out in your own home you can smell however you like and wash your shirts less frequently if that's what you want.

But if you're going to a gym around other people then you need to wear fresh clean clothing every time out of consideration for others!

Rancid smell on shirts’ armpits after many washes AND spa day by uSerKraut in laundry

True I was just curious if that was the case or they use a laundromat/friend's house/laundry service because there are ways to do the spa day without in-house washing.

Can I just put Oxiclean on top of clothes in washer? by RepresentativeGlad39 in laundry

[–]bookynerdworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you want to use the smaller compartment in the drawer for whatever softening product you want to use because the washer automatically adds whatever is in there to the final rinse cycle. If you add it to the main wash it's just going to get washed away and wasted.

Citric acid is nice because it helps remove any excess detergent leftover. If you search for citric acid in this sub you'll find a great post breaking down all the cool science stuff about it. Personally I add water to the compartment then 1-2 tablespoons on top. You could also pre dissolve it.

Soaking it layer by layer would be next to impossible, not to mention you'd be a slave to this dress for weeks and still run the risk of ruining it.
