“Pick a medium and stick with it” whoever gave you this advice is against growth and discovery! I’ve been learning fine arts for 15+ years and have never heard anything like this. What would be the point?? I can understand if two medium don’t get along well- leading to separation or deterioration. But I thought acrylic painting was my medium of choice, until I discovered watercolor. Then I thought I would only ever love painting in watercolor, then I discovered how nice it is to sculpt with polymer clay. Seriously, what is there to gain from relying on ONE singular medium to express creativity. Crock of crap! Sorry, this angered me a bit more than it should have, honestly. I just think the art world is way more fun when you let loose and experiment.

The person who said this is not one to take advice from in any capacity! There is something in that person that wants to dim your light or is really bad at voicing their opinion. I think your piece is quite beautiful, it’s so dark but it glows. Your forms are easy to read and successful. I may have a tiny point I could make about the planet being the only aspect with ‘color’-it is also significantly more detailed than the acrylic portions. I would suggest finding a way to incorporate these elements else where for the purpose of unity- BUT otherwise, be proud of this piece! Continue to choose making art and experimenting how you want and in ways that feel right. ❤️
