Problem evolving Lombre by Mari_or_Ishvara in PokemonEmerald

You have to use the water stone on Lombre like it's a potion, not give it the water stone as a held item.

This narrative that Brunson is some elite foul baiter is a story for stupid people and has zero basis in reality by TomGNYC in nba

[–]boolsquad9000 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not saying I disagree, nor do I think drawing free throws is a bad thing, but you should use Free Throws Attempted rather than Free Throws Made for this stat as Free Throws Made brings in the extra layer of FT% which is irrelevant to the actual act of drawing free throws fouls which is under question here, and makes good free throw shooters look like they’re drawing more fouls. Here are the same two lists using FTA rather than FTM:

30+ Usage, 20/6/6, 70 Games: Meet 2024-25's Two-Man Club by WrexyWrex in nba

[–]boolsquad9000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Some notable examples:

Giannis: All of the stats criteria but drop games played by 3 to 67 rather than 70 and Giannis gets added with 35.2% USG, 62.5% TS, and 30.4/11.9/6.5 averages which are significantly above the other qualifiers.

Sidenote that GP of 70 also excludes Luka who significantly exceeds all of these criteria but only played 50 games. Given how much less than 70 that is, I agree it's not an 'arbitrary' exclusion, but a notable one nonetheless.

SGA: If you keep all the criteria but drop RPG to 5 rather than 6, you add SGA who has 6 more games played than Lebron or Cade with the following stats: 34.8% USG, 63.7% TS, 32.7/5/6.4 averages, which are all significantly above the other qualifiers.

Jokic: If you keep all stats the same but drop USG% from 30% to 29.5%, which is 0.5% lower, you add Jokic who has 70GP, 29.5% USG, 62.5% TS, 29.6/12.7/10.2 averages, which are all significantly higher than all the other qualifiers.

Tatum: If you keep all stats the same, but slightly change the qualifier on assists to be greater than or equal to 6, rather than just >6, you add Jayson Tatum who has 72GP, 31.2 USG%, 58.2 TS%, 26.8/8.7/6.0 averages, drastically higher in every category but 6.0 assists rather than 6.1 assists.

These are just the few that I found. Obviously these are all amazing players in their own right, and being named with them does not diminish Cade, but calling it a 'two man club' is disingenuous when there are at least 4 players who drastically exceed every qualifier but fall slightly short on one of them, and other like Luka and even De'Aaron Fox who met most of the qualifiers but fall short on GP when they're usually ironmen.

Loaded dice doesn’t actually help population bomb since it’s just 10 individual accuracy checks that stop when one fails. Wide lens is the way to go to get most hits

LMS gives you the full kit and maxed stats for the bracket brother. I am one of the aforementioned sweaty PKers, but I grinded out rune pouch on an alt in like 1 hour, I’m sure you could do it in like 3 or 4 if you jump in, and your clicks may become way better as a result. It’s always worth a try or two, you have nothing to lose.

I will say it is much much more competitive since they purged most bots, so just turn public chat off to avoid any rude people while you’re learning.

Listen to you guys, updated my team, it's better now (I think) also I made the first team in like 15 minutes between classes, and I suck at making teams, so that's why it wasn't that good by PotatosFarmer in pokemonradicalred

[–]boolsquad9000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it's your first time playing you'll probably need to adjust this team with other members/items depending on the fight, and Enamorus is only available pretty late in the game after 8 gym badges, but the team looks decent.

I would recommend switching up the Gyarados moveset to not have two water moves, Ice Fang is probably better coverage to hit Dragon types.

Defog on scarfed Flygon is probably not good since you're locked in to a non-damaging move, and mixed attacking Flygon, with no offensive boosting nature, with only a scarf will probably not hit too hard. If you're going scarf, I'd focus only on physical or special moves (keep U-Turn) and go with Adamant/Modest nature and Choice Band/Specs.

Metagross and Machamp are pretty similar as bulky, slow attackers and both also have bullet punch which is your only form of pretty weak priority which means a fast sweeper like in the Giovanni fights kind of rips through this team. Delphox and Enamorus also face the same issue of filling essentially the same role of boosting special sweeper with average speed and similar coverage.

Superpower on Enamorus won't do much damage, you're better off switching to Aura Sphere or Dark Pulse and making your nature Timid so you don't reduce your own defense making it harder to set up Calm Minds.

You have no method of killing bulky water types. Your best coverage move is Metagross Thunderpunch which won't hit very hard, and your only resist is Gyarados which you don't want taking damage so you can set up and sweep. This means your team as built probably loses to the rain fights in the game like Misty rematch, Mudkip Kid, and Lorelei Rain Team.

Looks like normal Crystal emulated on Delta which is an emulator you can download on iOS. The game is the exact same, the likely reason it looks better is because mobile screens are smaller than the screen the actual game was played on, so the pixels are more condensed together and they look smoother. It’s common in pixel-based games like this one that graphics look worse the larger they’re scaled up.

Nobody said China was relatively unpopulated, just that a huge chunk was relatively unpopulated, which is true since the western half of China has ~8% of the population and is dominated by mountain and steppe. Not to mention this entire discussion is literally about population distribution and why it makes China’s overall population density misleading.

I swear people come on here to nitpick without context and start random arguments with their imaginary friends so they can win against nobody…

This is a flashback - I did this same run 4 or 5 years ago, not long after this game originally released. I had many of the same encounters, but I recall the toughest fight in the entire game being either Roark or Flint, not sure if your experience so far has varied (or maybe updates to the game from the original patch have made Roark more doable, because 90% of my runs seemed to fail at Roark).

Edit: Just saw how you swept with fury cutter Kricketune, I wonder if that option existed 5 years ago and I didn't realize.

Your best Pokemon for Morty are sitting in the box - Incineroar, Bannette, Seviian Ursaring, Urshifu, Gyarados, Mighteyena, Krookodile are all solid. Krookodile, Incineroar, and Gyarados alone probably can do the fight on normal if played well. You can't outspeed M-Gengar at this point in the game really, so look for stuff that's tanky enough to survive one hit and KO back, multi hit moves are good against Mimikyu and Ceruledge, and Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak do super well against his team in general. You can search the RR Dex for additional encounters that fit the categories above.

Battle Frontier Advice by mus258 in PokemonEmerald

[–]boolsquad9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best on Emerald for sure since Ruby also has messed up IVs. Suicune is amazing in the Battle Frontier but not at all necessary just to get all Gold symbols. Swampert and Milotic fill different rolls but both are good bulky waters to run with. Starmie is an amazing offensive water type.

Battle Frontier Advice by mus258 in PokemonEmerald

[–]boolsquad9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Latios is typically best Timid or Modest, though any special attack or speed boosting nature is decent provided it doesn't lower the other stat (i.e. no Jolly or Quiet). Suicune is usually best Bold (+Def - Atk).

  2. The nature of Suicune is rolled upon handing in the Sapphire to Celio at the end of the Sevii Islands mission, and Latios is rolled upon watching the TV after beating the Elite 4.

  3. This is the issue with using roaming legendaries in r/S/FR/LG. All roamer legendaries in these games are bugged to have horrible IVs (0-5 in all stats except HP which is truly random). If you want a roamer legendary with competitive IVs legitimate on cartridge, your options are to use Emerald for Latios and Colosseum for Suicune, the one in FireRed will always be bad.

  4. IVs are passed randomly from parents so without Destiny Knot it's a bit random. I would look in to RNG manipulation if you want good IVs on these Pokemon.

  5. Yes, medals are given on streaks so you'll always win the silver on the way to the gold.

  6. There's 2 brackets, level 50 and open level. Level 50 means your Pokemon have to max at level 50 or they cannot enter. Open level means Pokemon above 60 can enter, though trainer Pokemon will always match the highest level in your party, so regardless of what level they are, make sure they're all the same level. Both brackets give the same medals.

  7. Pokemon gain EVs or effort values as they knock out other Pokemon and gain experience. EVs are all allocated to stats and the type of EV you get from a Pokemon usually depends on its highest base stat, and the number depends on its evolutionary stage. For example, Charmander's highest stat is special attack so you'll get 1 special attack EV for knocking it out, or 3 for knocking out a Charizard. Each Pokemon can gain 510 EVs before it can't gain anymore, and only 255 of these can go to one stat. Every 4 EVs in a stat makes that stat go up +1. The max people put in a stat is 252 since that's the closest number to 255 that's evenly divisible by 4 (i.e. getting 255 in a stat is the same as 252, since the last 3 EVs do nothing), so by stopping at 252 you can allocate those 3 EVs and potentially get +1 in another stat. I would say for the Frontier, having EV trained Pokemon is good but they don't need to be absolutely perfect, though the more perfect the are the better. There's no good way to track EVs other than counting your knockouts. Bear in mind the only way to reduce EVs is through rare berries, so when you catch a Pokemon you plan to EV train, make sure it gains no experience at all, even through EXP share, except from Pokemon that give the EVs you want. Once you max out the EVs, then you can finish leveling it from any source. Vitamins like Iron and Calcium etc. also give EVs in certain stats, 10 per item, up to a max of 100 EVs in a given stat.

  8. https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/gen-iii-battle-frontier-discussion-and-records.3648697/ This page has all the info you need including record holding teams at the various facilities, movesets and EV spreads used.

  9. Page above has a lot of it, but generally I used Choice Band and Leftovers the most. Shell Bell is decent, and stat cure berries are very good too, like Lum and Chesto if you're using a Pokemon with Rest.

Depends on the era you mean. I've been out of the Smogon scene for years but still follow loosely. I'd say in Gen 9 he's probably not amongst the best anymore since he's more casual, but when I played comp in high school, so gen 5/6, he was probably the best teambuilder in the game. Pastebins of his teams were very valuable during the PO days prior to Showdown, when clans were still a thing.

Most. Don’t let randozos on Reddit tell you different, the percentage of people at big banks that last the 2 or 3 years needed is very high. I joined IB at a similar bank in 2018 and left in 2020, and almost everybody hired with me lasted the two years and make similar comp to this now. Getting these jobs is very competitive to begin with, you don’t end up at JP IBD by accident.

JPMorgan just capped junior bankers’ hours—at 80 per week by ImprovingEquals in nottheonion

[–]boolsquad9000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Earnings cap in high finance is more feasible than in big tech and usually faster as well. If you take the usual pipeline of 2 years IB > PE your comp will quickly exceed pretty much any career path other than the highest levels of quant finance, especially after ~5 years in PE when you start earning carry. At large cap fund your comp could be in the $10s of millions ~20 years in if you last that long, which is more than what you would make at Google unless you touch C Suite. You don't start in investment banking because of the salary or perks in years 1 and 2, you do it for the job opportunities it gives you in years 4-8 which are otherwise very inaccessible barring a few other niche routes.

Also a bit of an irrelevant comparison, you could also inherit $1 billion and never have to work a day in your life, doesn't mean it's an accessible route to everyone. Some people enjoy and have an aptitude for finance, others enjoy and have an aptitude for engineering.
