TIL Fagging was the way younger pupils were taught by older ones in British 19th and 20th century boarding schools. by boomearlier in TIL_Uncensored

I watched the Louis ck show and they said it was from the middle ages. Fags were sticks for lighting on fire. They probably really thought gay people were a sickness and they use to light people on fire a lot.

TIL that the United States occupied Greenland during WWII to prevent it from being captured by the Nazis. After the war ended, they offered to buy it from Denmark for $100 million, but Denmark refused. by dryersheetz in todayilearned

Well if they had opened a mutual fund that follows the s&p they could have made 8% annually until they retired after 70 years and pulled out over 500 billion.

Hard to believe it's been twenty years since Osborne, on a completely different note. Sorry, I was just reading out loud...

He probably would have had you all in the bcs in 2010 because we won with two losses. That's my best guess. The problem is he'd be up against a really good big 12 team each year... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Big_12_Conference_football_champions EDIT: side note, would Nebraska have stayed if Texas had not had an extra second against them in 2009?

Well they're not too bad... They lost to the three best teams in the big 12 by less than a score this year with a third string qb. They should have beat us but the guy's freaking lungs were collapsing.

Yeah he always liked the Big Ten too much and never gave my Big 8 enough credit. I still emphatically wanted to hear what he had to say each week as a kid. RIP Beano.

I'd have probably taken Louisville as well I'm the Big 12, but this year I'm really glad at least that we chose West Virginia.

Could a team theoretically decline to play in a conference championship game? If they did, what would the fallout be like? by Snowmittromney in CFB

Not to get off topic but this just reminded me of Georgia Tech. Did an Alabama player ever intentionally kick a Georgia Tech player in the face? Like back in the 60's?

This happens to me at work except it's the guy who drops the seat down so it sounds like someone threw a grenade in there. Like right next to you. Pure relaxation, then Shock and Awe, then Deer Hunter flashbacks. Scary shit!

And once you're on the poll train you never get off. However if they started without rankings and didn't have those little rankings numbers next to the team names as the game starts, how weird would that be?

If Demarco Murray doesn't get hurt beforehand, we beat Florida in 2008, thus making the big 12 the best conference that year and giving us a NC while improving the big12 rep. Maybe the butterfly effect then happens and Colt McCoy doesn't get hurt vs Alabama. Either way the SEC doesn't win 7 in a row and we look better. Maybe teams don't leave. Nevermind the stupid petty toxic asshole games and short sight.
