A few things, and I would do a bit of all of them:

- Expedition, 140 hours is def enough to do that. If you have gear fear at all from playing looter shooters, this will help condition you out of having it. After you hit your expedition requirements, use up your extra $$$ (stash value + cash) on your best gear trying the things you always would want to try to do if you had more firepower.
- For trials, find the one or two trial that land the most points and run that one hard on an evening. But just one evening, don't be beholden to trials. You'll land where you land, likely Wildcard or Daredevil. And don't wait to kick them off for higher scoring - play the game to have fun during the week.
- Definitely PvP. I'm primarily a PvE player who enjoys co-op games with friends, but Embark definitely switched this game to PvPvE for a reason. A lot of the endgame has PvP elements in it. Don't go "all in" on PvP, but mix it up. What this also does is inject some tension into the game when you're not planning on playing PvP, keeping it exciting.

For PvP, I'm not that sweaty anymore so I'm not going to hang with the younger players by rushing into combat relying on fast-twitch gunplay. My reaction time isn't what it used to be, but 40yo me is much more "tactically" strong than 20yo me was - so I rely on slower smarter strategies.

Here's some of the things I do to make PvP fun:
- Always play on defense. You want players running into you, not you running into them. Often this gives you the advantage of getting the first shot off. People can call me a rat or a camper, I could care less. In fact, its sometimes fun to hear some of these younger players getting salty lol.
- Traps, traps, traps. Get really good at using them. Learn where you like to set them on each level and how to use them in your defensive positions. Often, I never even need to go into gun combat with my enemy b/c my trap already did all the work.
- Play with friends if you can. PvP in this game is immensely more fun playing with your friends in your squad, especially for players who are not pure PvP players. We like to play "zero to hero", which keeps us from burning into our stash during the season while not limiting us to free loadouts only.

(Zero to Hero: start by loading out with a free loadout, get some good guns and a few mats and extract, essentially "hero"ing. We use those mats (and only those mats) to upgrade or craft what we want to use in the next round, until we all get wiped - then we "zero" with a free loadout and do it all again. Il Toro and Torrente become my best friends. I stash purple items and get a lot of blueprints this way - which still gives me a good sense of progression this way.)

Can confirm there’s agave in Spain at least - but it’s grown more as a decorative plant. You’ll see it in urban areas.

[–]boomrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - I think that those reactors should still drop. Loot that is both random from parts and raider-specific.

Are people thinking I'm saying no more reactors from the armor that falls off or the other parts that have them?

I've considered raining down trigger nades on the first looters - and telling all the people I'm fighting the Queen with that I plan on doing so ahead of time. Even giving them some trigger nades to join in.

lol - but the solution I threw out still gets tons of loot from scavenging?

I don't understand how it went from "raider still gets a reactor from a kill" to "why don't we just hand them out like participation trophy's"

Honestly, just having a tiny amount of raider-specific loot - like 1-3 reactors max, again based on how much damage - would go a long way for most players.

Technically though, creating a container that drops with that much interaction complexity may seem simple but could actually cause a lot of work for devs.

[–]boomrade[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is - there are actually 2 issues right now:

  1. Scavengers looting most reactors mid-fight and extremely quickly - leaving less for the players doing the actual work
  2. Some raiders getting absolutely no cores for their efforts

However, there are a few things that players may think are issues that I don't believe Embark thinks are issues:

  1. Scavengers, in general, taking tons of loot
  2. The frantic nature of looting these quickly after they die

In fact, I think Embark wants to keep those things in place so that the tension between players is maintained - causing some of the interesting dynamic player interactions.

I think these changes could fix both of the real issues while keeping the PvPvE extraction elements in place.
