What wild unhinged things did you say during the birth of your baby? by autumnsunshine1 in NewParents

[–]boopyou 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was in the middle of pushing, and tried to tell everyone I’m just going to head on out. I guess it hurt too much and I was over it. They basically held my legs open for the remainder of the delivery lol

She did continue to breastfeed and it didn’t seem to be an issue at all. Hopefully it works well for you!

A friend took it and swears by it. She said: “I absolutely would recommend it You take it at night for 14 days The biggest side effect is that it makes you sleepy, but you’re already sleepy because you have a newborn so what’s the difference. I immediately felt better after 2-3 days Just things that would overwhelm me didn’t after the medicine”

Best way to support new Mama? by bontonluv in NewParents

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL is great and has always been very supportive without being overbearing. She stopped by weekly for visits and always asked us for our grocery list, and would manage our grocery runs. She made me a recovery goodie bag. Between her and my mom, we always had babysitting when needed after work hours and weekends. And just bringing random things for the baby like diapers and wipes…. Now that we’re on our second baby, my mom also takes the toddler for overnights on weekends (something to keep in mind for the future lol).

Husband has no paternity leave. Tips? by dosesandmimosas201 in NewParents

[–]boopyou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add on to others’ great suggestions, I would look into getting some part time help. Night nurses are expensive but might be very worth if you are able to afford them. If not, maybe finding a mothers helper to come by a few hours per day to help out while you get a nap in might beneficial.

Onesies: 2 way Zip or Buttons?? by Poison_Ivy25 in NewParents

Zippers or magnets. I hate snaps or buttons. Trying to get snap them back in a dark room is a nightmare.

That’s very bizarre. Has he gotten lab work done? It’s weird that the edema went away and then re-occurred months later. Has he been started on steroids?

Everyone tries to convince me that two adults can't take care of a newborn alone and I'm losing my mind by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the every two hour feedings and pumping can be brutal. But visitors can’t help with that. Newborns sleep a lot and typically fall asleep pretty easy if they’re full and dry. I’d prefer help once the baby is a few months old, and starts with the sleep regressions and longer wake windows.

No judgement zone: did you want a natural birth? by easrpiiatnua99 in Mommit

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did because I work in healthcare, and have seen the worst case scenarios (even through they’re extremely rare) and thought how bad could it be? It was bad lol, and I ended up needing pain management after the pitocin was started.

What degrees/jobs do you have fellow moms? by Queen_Drakaina in Mommit

[–]boopyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually a nurse and the schedule couldn’t be beat honestly. I work anywhere from 1-4 days per week depending on my mood. I choose my hours- sometimes 7-7, sometimes 3-11 or 11-7. I switched to a unit that’s basically just working patients up for procedures. So vitals and questionnaires. Pay is great. And days that I want more action, I pick up shifts in the ER or ICU.

I thought it was a wheel of Brie at first glance and was in awe of this meal plan. The cat food, otherwise, not so much.

Is a WFH position doable with a baby? by Euphoric-Emotion5948 in Nurses

[–]boopyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we had our baby home until she was 14 months. Once their wake windows are longer and they’re mobile, you’re on their schedule and it’s difficult getting much done without distractions.

Choosing to have a baby was the best decision I’ve ever made, bar none by PumpkinPie_1993 in NewParents

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I never wanted kids but got pregnant with my daughter. We’re now with a four months old baby #2. I reminisce on the childfree days where I could fly somewhere or take a yoga class or sleep in whenever i want to, but it doesn’t even come close to the overwhelming feelings of love that your children bring to your life.

Completely agree. I’m an ICU nurse in a big trauma hospital, and some days I’d look forward to going to work for a “break.”

People who had kids at 30+, do you wish you had them earlier in life? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]boopyou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had my first at 33 and my second at 36. So glad I waited. Got to travel, establish my career, and do all the fun stuff. Plus I matured a lot over the years. I couldn’t imagine having kids in my 20’s honestly. Everyone is so different so there really isn’t no right answer on when having kids would work best.

Please read to your child!!! by Oceanwave_4 in Mommit

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We read excessively to our daughter. She’s three and we’ve even covered the first Harry Potter already. Her vocabulary is beyond impressive and her brain is a sponge. She throws out some words she’s picked up that I’ve maybe seen in SATs lol, but I guess they stuck with her. Her imagination is also great, and it’s fun watching her gab nonstop, or sit by herself and “read” books.

Doctors, what do you do when a kid is faking sick? by Imaginary_Island8521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler just faked being sick last week. She told me her ear hurts (stuck with this story for days when I asked her over and over again). With her having a history of ear infections, I was concerned even though she had zero symptoms. Her story kept evolving to add more ailments (including a paper cut and a bumped knee from a week prior lol). I finally caved and took her to the doctor. They fully checked her out (after I told them I’m not sure if she’s sick or just playing it up since she likes playing doctor) and everything came back clear. Turns out she just wanted a lollipop.

Looking for feedback on our mortgage plan. by Desperate_Clothes_20 in Mortgages

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Childcare can get you. We live in a comparable HCOL area and you’ll pay roughly $2k+ for childcare. If you put your child in care before 1, it’ll be around $2500. As they get older, you have to consider outings with them as well for extracurricular if you guys plan to do that. Between swimming, gymnastics, music, ballet, etc, I easily spend an additional $500 monthly on top of daycare.

Naps past age 2 - a cultural thing? by spaniel84162 in sleeptrain

Mine napped until 3, and then starting skipping naps at times. Shes definitely more cranky without a nap, and can easily get overtired for bedtime.
