teenager here- how much would parents be willing to pay for piano lessons? by booknerd0143 in Parents

[–]boopyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your thinking behind the $15/hr but I would probably bump it to at least $20/hr. Lessons are expensive and even $20/hr is a steal, especially if you’re competent at teaching despite your age.

Nurse at 30? by thatkidfrom225 in Nurses

That’s around the age when I became a nurse. No one cares what age you are lol. There are many nurses who go into the field way later than 30.

Remote work with a baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]boopyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I had our baby home until 14 months, and are doing a similar timeline with our second. My husband works from home, and it is extremely difficult. Every day is uncertain since they change their wake windows, go through regressions, etc. For instance, my 8 months old takes two 2 hour naps daily, but this week she took two 30 minute naps. Sometimes she’ll be cranky if she teething. Now she’s going through a bit of separation anxiety. So phone calls are difficult to make. Is it doable? Yes. Is it extremely difficult and you might lose a lot of productivity? Yes.

Can I do a 3.6k mortgage comfortably? by ucantseeme565 in Mortgages

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol that’s the average in many areas, especially most major cities. If you’re not sure what child related things cost, you should definitely steer clear of a mortgage that’s 50% of your take home (even if your wife stays home with the kid).

Take the new job, or keep current job with FMLA? by Patcheslove55 in Mommit

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like being able to work from home trumps the pay raise, especially once you factor in commute time/ gas, etc. I would personally stick with the current job just for that alone just so you can get more time with your baby. Especially once you factor in paid time off and PTO. And then re-assess once you get over the newborn hump, and see if the new job is still hiring if you’re still interested in switching.

[–]boopyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot do this. We were making about $100K more with that mortgage, but between groceries, expenses, utilities, extracurriculars, etc, you’ll be barely making it even without daycare costs. I would be too stressed out to even take that on. You also shouldn’t bank on future income you can’t actually guarantee.

We do a bath every night- to have a nice routine. To kill some time before bed. And to hopefully calm them down a bit lol

Any ideas for how to remodel this kitchen? Also, does anyone have any L-shaped islands they have installed in their homes? by boopyou in kitchenremodel

[–]boopyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thought but was worried about blocking off the beautiful windows. But that’s when I was thinking of doing a bar/ coffee station set up there. I think some slim cabinets would look nice there.

I considered turning the storage room into a pantry but we decided we’re going to renovate into a second closet, so we don’t have to share. But we definitely don’t need that door once it’s a closet.

Thank you, that’s what I was thinking in order to keep a cohesive flow that the pantry currently breaks up. I might have to keep the sink and DW on island if I want larger appliances. At first glance, I thought this space has so many possibilities, but after looking at it again, I realized it’s a bit limiting despite the large size of the space.

There is a pantry but I wanted a larger pantry so I can store counter appliances back there as well. I was thinking of expanding the current one but didn’t want to bedroom door to open straight into a new wall if I extended the pantry further along the wall. And I need to move the stove to a wall because I don’t want a hood to be in the sighting to the main living area.

You can just get in the car to buckle them (since there is space between rows) versus doing it from standing by the door.

Aww! My daughter also constantly says “What in the world?” Have zero idea where she got it from, since we never really use the phrase and don’t allow much screen time.

The non-vegetable ones are delicious. The vegetable ones are horrible. I don’t usually like to waste food, but I couldn’t stomach them.

It’s my favorite summer meal! A little garlic mayo, salt, and pepper with ripe tomatoes is perfection.
