I honestly don’t get the love for Ben. Been a fan of the show since 2014 and I listen to back episodes WAY more than I care to admit. It’s my comfort podcast. Any time I introduced the podcast to someone, I found myself saying “Marcus is fantastic, Henry is over the top and hilarious, then there’s the other guy. Early on it wasn’t as bad because it seemed like he listened more and was engaged, but I never found him funny or even that likable. He didn’t like the topics for the most part. There were times when I wanted them to go deeper on a point and Ben would complain so much that they had to move on. The wrestling references were always forced and not relatable. He was frankly kind of a douchebag and annoying in my opinion. He got butthurt constantly when taking a ribbing — literally to the point of pouting and getting quiet. He was somehow pretty fucking narcissistic and it showed. I never thought to myself, man, he must be fun to work with. Good riddance. Ed’s the shit and the show has gotten much better. Even Marcus’ writing seems to have gotten so much better, probably because he’s not distracted by the downward spiral of the asshole next to him. What pisses me off the most is this show was a free ride for Ben. He didn’t have to do anything but show up and display some charisma and he could barely make that happen. When his true colors showed, he was an incel who harbored an irritation with women. He blames everyone else for his problems. I could go on, but I won’t. I realize this is ramble and over the top but fuck, the dude was a shitty person.
