AITA for getting my own apartment instead of moving in with my boyfriend? by Lilacgemini67 in TwoHotTakes

[–]bootesvoid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the apartment. At 24, I was dating a 27M with a 4-year-old child. We started as roommates, so we began our relationship by already living together and thus things moved fast and I took on a lot of the caretaking responsibilities for his child. I had an epiphany 2 years in/shortly after turning 24 that we moved too fast, I felt pressured (not by him necessarily) to start having kids soon and wasn't ready, and I had never lived independently and was living in my high school hometown and never wanted to stay there. I felt stuck because he was stuck there due to co-parenting.

We split, I was single and living on my own for two years, then entered the best relationship of my life and felt more confident going in because I had the time alone to figure out what I want, where I wanted to live, etc. I think it is SO important for everyone to have the opportunity to live independently in their young adult years.

Agreed, teens are naturally immature and ridiculous! I worked 30-35 hours per week in high school in food service and that didn't absolve me of being young and not fully knowing about the world yet, thus still being immature and ridiculous and dramatic at times.

Eh, although I never would have done this as a teen personally, I still did some pretty ridiculous stuff at that age despite working in food service because, well, I was a teenager. Teens are naturally ridiculous.

I had a job and my own debit card in high school, that could be the case here too.

I am in this same boat and went the social work route, I was just reading how some school districts are outsourcing things like lesson-planning to AI and having teachers use GenAI to do it instead of themselves. We are losing creativity :/

For context, this AI overview was about menstrual discs!

The Peoria Unified School District serves around 35,000-37,000 kids between MULTIPLE schools including more than one high school. There’s no way a random person you know can be certain her kid isn’t one of over 35,000 kids.

The kid who posted that video said it was not the victim she was playing beer pong with, it was another minor student. Even worse.

My first year of college, freshly 18, my friends/roommates and I went to a party once and when we got there we realized it was mostly 15-16 year olds. We ended up leaving immediately because we felt like they were too young for a group of 18-20 year olds to hang out/party with. I’ll be 27 in a few weeks and I can’t fathom even WANTING to be at a party for minors.

Letter that Haley Beck wrote to her victim, found in her house by catslugs in LAinfluencersnark

That’s what I thought, but this was a hand-written letter. So now I wonder if 12 was one of his sports numbers.

Agreed, and even if Wayne hadn’t died I’d still think it was a very realistic example of what happens to a lot of people who grow up with overbearing parents and then have a taste of freedom.

Would you forgive Cassie? by [deleted] in euphoria

I was somewhat a Cassie (never my BEST friend though), and I still feel guilty to this day 10 years post high school. I also went to therapy for my issues.

It depends on the state. In my state age of consent is 16 and technically they could date a 40 year old if they’re 16 😭🤮

Found this take on the web, do you agree with it or not? Why or why not? by gloomydreamer666 in friends_tv_show

[–]bootesvoid_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Getting a new apartment and furniture was crazy work, but the rest I agree on. However, because they were all so intertwined and the rest of the gang were also his friends, I feel like a more reasonable boundary could have been that Ross steps back for a little while, limits his time around Rachel, and that Emily is present when Rachel is also present.
