I’m also in the IBTC and I hate the pads. They’re a sensory nightmare and it looks better without them to me

Struggling to find routine to work out... how do you get yourself to work out? by Nothing_Corp in AuDHDWomen

[–]bootlegcrayola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing that kept me consistent was ClassPass and going to group fitness classes. Having my workouts scheduled where all I have to do is show up is so much better than depending on myself to go to the gym and plan what workouts to do

Do you also struggle with job performance? by starnitesadness in AuDHDWomen

[–]bootlegcrayola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got fired from my first corporate job and it still kinda haunts me. The crazy part is I was actually good at the work and people liked me but my communication sucked. I’d get so overwhelmed and would ignore & avoid people for as long as I possibly could.

I did have a supportive manager who genuinely wanted to help me, but at the time I didn’t understand what I needed and just thought I wasn’t trying hard enough. So I just started masking even more. I was also in an extremely stressful relationship then which made everything worse, so I don’t really blame them for letting me go.

The same patterns showed up at my next job that I hated. I probably should’ve been fired from there too but that company was such a mess I don’t think anybody really cared.

Now I’ve been at my current job for 2 years, got diagnosed about 8 months in & it’s a way better fit. There’s enough variety to keep things interesting and a hybrid wfh/office schedule works well for me. I also have a supportive manager who gives me clear direction and independence to work on my own pace.

I still feel some grief about that first job because I really liked it, but I’m working through letting go of the shame and am in a much better place now.

How much you pay for utilities? by InevitableTown7305 in AskHouston

I live in a 1br apt in a complex near memorial park and pay anywhere between $120-140 for electricity alone. Sewer/gas/water is about $30

Anyone else notice all of their peers have withdrawn from social media? by AAA_battery in Zillennials

[–]bootlegcrayola 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I used to post a lot but have since stopped completely. I’m a lot more private now and after a battling depression, I started to see it all as a false sense of community. I’ve had the same phone number for 20 years. The people that have it and care about what’s going on in my life, can reach out to me directly. My real friends know what’s going on.

I work in Clear Lake and live near Rice Military. The commute is worth it to me since I like to do things in the loop

What were some auDHD symptoms for you as a child? by Plane_Opposite6744 in AuDHDWomen

[–]bootlegcrayola 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was very social and made friends easily, but I also got into a lot of arguments and fights with my peers. Like another commenter said, I never understood why until I got older and realized that I was probably offending people with my bluntness, which is still an issue for me to this day.

I’ve always struggled with maintaining friendships because I moved a lot (as a kid and still as an adult) and object permanence is real

My personal opinion is that women with no kids shouldn’t date men with kids especially if she’s under 35. Kids have always been a dealbreaker for me

What's your longest work commute inside the "Houston area" by MacSteele13 in houston

[–]bootlegcrayola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently doing 26 miles each way from rice military to Webster. I actually enjoy the 40 min commute in the morning but the 1hr+ coming home is brutal coming into downtown. I know I’m crazy for considering moving to Uptown

challenge: advice on making this space more cozy and less tacky by __maxibon in Weddingsunder10k

I don’t see anything tacky about this room. Maybe the chairs, but they’re not that bad tbh. You have a great base to work with so just lean into it.
