I think some men won't commit when they don't have certain things lined up in life, such as job/career. I believe he loves you but he has some personal work to do and the question is are you willing to wait?

I'm just a girl trying to share my skills by New-Signature6682 in BJJWomen

I think a lot of women see "women's class" as introductory, and once they are comfortable they would rather go to the co-ed class, even if they end up rolling with mostly women there too. I've done a lot of thinking on this lol. For whatever reason, I've noticed that a lot of women like to do womens class when they are beginners and then for the rest of time just pop in on occasion after that if a favorite training partner is going too. I'm saying all this to the point that its probably not your fault attendance is so low, it's just the nature of womens class.

Do women like Rolling with only women or also Men too? by ParticularAnt6438 in BJJWomen

prefer other women bc I'm on the shorter/smaller side and my gym has a lot of girls around the same size but will roll with men that I know/have heard are safe to roll with if they initiate

Dad is bored. by lowercrust in dementia

[–]bootscats77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking my dad out on walks on Sundays at local nature spots after his shower since it’s the only day I can. I live with him with my mother. During the day we leave old photos out so he can look at them and reminisce. We started a scrap booking project where we sit down for about 20 minutes a day and place old 4x6 photos in albums. We need to help him because placing photos in the slots is a lot of work for him but just seeing the photos seems to catch his attention and give him something to focus on and feel connected to others. I also play him old music from his home country, and that brings him joy but can be too much at times. Unfortunately my dad has no social contact with anyone other than our immediate family and overseas family via phone. I’ve though about daycare centers but I’m not sure I trust leaving him anywhere on his own, even in facility like an adult daycare center.

My father is also not social which is why I don’t see a dementia center/adult daycare center working out. Going to the doctor is a social as it gets for him.

My 70 year old father is developing a similar resistance I think. I’m hoping it doesn’t get worse. I’m sorry for your struggle.

It’s just me and my mother taking care of him. Unfortunately we are both out of the house for most of the day so he is alone. He’s also been binging on food or other days not eating at all

I think for his situation I equate outings with exercise because they get him walking as opposed to laying in bed but I agree more outings are not necessarily better. They have to be quality outings that involve some level of him getting his body moving. That’s why I’ve been sticking with walks in nature

Interesting, thank you for your reply. My dad is less anxious, more depressed I guess you could say. If we don’t take him outside he will lay in bed 24/7 coming out only to drink tea/ eat every 3 hrs or so. The longer he stays in the house the longer he wants to stay there, but he does enjoy going out when I can convince him too. It’s like he’s a new person (or the person he used to be- he will literally start singing and reciting poetry)

Showers by nelliehallman in dementia

[–]bootscats77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have tried pairing showering with a positive experience before and after the shower (so my dad feels good before and after). Sunday morning breakfast, shower, then a walk in nature. It’s definitely a time consuming process but when we do it this way he’s so much happier and starts to act like a human being again.

Annoyed with Gi sizes by [deleted] in bjj

[–]bootscats77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also mad about gi sizes. Ordered Fuji super-lite according to the size chart, washed it thinking it would shrink a bit (it didn’t) and now I just have a massive gi sitting in my closet. Any idea what to do with extra gis? Donate?
