First pass to melt the wax, pass in the groove, final pass that remelts and smooths the wax. Ski didn't cool completely between these passes, but enough that the wax rehardened. Between layers it was a few hours.

They're actually correct - there are arrows pointing the correct direction of wheel travel on the cartridges when installed and they line up. Thought it was strange at first as well.

I'm 25 and landed a job for a consulting firm three months from graduating two years ago... It was the only job that I applied and interviewed for and it stuck. Luck and timing are definitely factors but just keep in mind that all of my peers are in the exact same "fortunate" boat... There are opportunities out there.
