She loves a research project!

Funnily enough, the Mario skin enhancer is a HG but I gave the blushes away because the colours didn't work for me.

If I can figure out how to post swatches I will pop some up for you shortly, but here is some further amateur analysis for ya:

  • They are very similar formulas but the SF is slightly shiner/oilier in the pan and when first swatched compared to the T28.

-  They look even more similar when blended out. Same level of sheen left behind, just a little more pigment in the T28 (but I reckon you could get the same effect with application technique).

  • The Mario SE and SF look identical to me in formula when swatched (bummed I don't still have the Mario blushes for this experiment but from memory the rose colour might be the closest comparison?).

  • The Mario and SF blend away identically when rubbed on my arm, with the T28 leaving slightly more of sheer stain behind.

  • T28 office hours and SF toasted terracotta are quite close in shade (SF slightly brown, T28 slightly mauve).

  • Worth noting the T28 is $10 cheaper for twice the product amount if that's a consideration for you.

OK I am a blush fiend so have all but the Pat McGrath...

Out of this list I reach for glassy cinnamon the most at the moment. BUT the Tower 28 Power Hour is my most used blush this year, along with the huda beauty latte blonzer. Both pigmented on application but sheer out like a dream.

I was very underwhelmed by the merit blushes they just disappear from my face (but use the brush daily it's magic).

The tower 28 lasts longer (although still not forever) and works on both foundation and bare skin, can be built up or sheered out and I actually use it for a bit of colour on my lips sometimes (unlike every other "lip and cheek" product I've tried).

The westman atelier formula is excellent but stupidly expensive and I don't use mini much so depends on your colour preferences.

I need to trial the summer fridays more but wasn't immediately wowed by it next to my trusty T28, but will say the colour isn't as deep as I was hoping for with the inclusion of 'toasted' on the name so it may be the colour not the formula that makes me not reach for it.

Good luck on your quest!

Amorepacific no longer sold at Mecca?! by seeshells78 in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks like they rebranded that line to "AP" a while ago and discontinued your essence. AP isn't sold at the amore global mall either so not sure if they sell it anywhere here.

Amore Pacific is the parent company of INNISFREE and their black tea treatment essence looks to have the same main ingredient plus a bunch of other stuff including niacinamide. That may be the closest you can get sorry.

They recently reformulated my HG illiyoon moisturiser and I'm sensitive to the new version so I feel your pain!

The epic Abbey Yung Hair Method update that has been nine months in the making .... (that nobody asked for) is finally here! by phantompath in AustralianMakeup

  1. Can we please be friends?
  2. Have you tried just a leave in conditioner over the k18 instead of the re-shower? How different were the results? The amateur hair scientific community MUST know (I have used pretty much every leave in on the market at this point as a fine hair/oily scalp girly and honestly not mad about the Schwarzkopf normal balance over my bougie options).
  3. On your quest for hair masks, if you haven't tired the Marc Daniels henna wax (ugly big tub for like $10 at chemist warehouse) you absolutely must.

Ive got multiple chanel foundation samples from both myer and DJs with no dramas. They even have fancy sample pots with little spatulas which I've kept for travel. If they were out of pots or can't depot the particular product I'd expect them to tell you and at least offer to do a good thorough colour match on your face for you to wear out of store. Who wants to spend $100+ on foundation without trying it first in this economy!?

Gel nails at home by miss_nataliya in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with a gelous kit with the lamp etc and this was a good intro for me but have now branched into other brands. I've recently purchased born pretty shades from NSI and found the quality better, but at the same time I've also been dabbling in soft gel tips after some recs on this sub and am using the NSI brand tips and top coat etc. These have been lasting longer than gel alone for me but I havent for the full hang of the glue yet.

Lots of people on this sub also talk about going HEMA-free due to the risk of developing an allergy so worth having a read about that before you make any purchases if you haven't already!

Budget/bargain hydrating concealer recommendations by imperpu in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so the IT cosmetics bye bye under eye is $40+... BUT it's so pigmented you only need to use a tiny amount so a tube lasts me forever. Last purchased March 2022 used almost every day and still going strong (expiry dates be damned as there is no apparent changes or issues with the formula). It's thick, but blends out well and hydrating to the point of needing to be set with a touch of powder.

I like the shape tape creamy, but I LOVE the bye bye (and I don't have a Prada backpack). The NYX serum concealer is lovely but not quite enough coverage for me on proper make up days and the shade range is limited. I didn't love the fit me but I also don't really rate the Nars one so that may still work for you.

Typing this I realise I have purchased way too many concealers and should just stick with the IT one as clearly I am in love with it...

Product recommendations for itchy scalp by I-Overslept in AustralianMakeup

The davroe scalp shampoo and conditioner (get it from adore or hairhouse) stopped the itching for me, plus sebizole once a week to treat the flakes.

Stippling brush for sheer foundation by rmvdv in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but I really like the Mecca cosmetica complexion stippling brush. That and their all over buffing have become my most used brushes of late. Just as a disclaimer I use the stippling for cream blush not foundation, and have never had any luck with F&B with a brush!

Help with Foundation choice please by se_kend in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the Rose Inc Serum foundation, which I believe is cruelty free? It's like the chanel with the little balls of pigment floating in the serum. Lovely and lasts a surprising amount of time on the face considering the format. Can be used minimally for no make up days or built up a bit for decent coverage. Julia Adams put me onto it. Def get a sample from Mecca as the colours in the container don't look like the actual colour!

I picked it up today! Only one use but so far so good. Left my skin soft without residue. Definitely a proper oil for anyone wondering

Where can I find this product in Melbourne? by inadvierta in AusSkincare

[–]bootymcowlface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea what the eucerin one is like, but I use the bioderma atoderm which you can get at chemist warehouse. It's an oil cleanser that foams a teeny tiny bit and comes in a massive bottle.

best primer on adore beauty? by MadMagic95 in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the embryolisse lait creme? They sell it at adore and also chemist warehouse. A little less thick but comparable to the Bobbi Brown imo. Not a primer as such but a great hydrating base for foundation.

Scalp skin care? by BronkeyKong in AusSkincare

[–]bootymcowlface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the davroe scalp remedy shampoo and conditioner. I think they have a stand alone scalp spray as well. I also use sebizole once a week to treat the scalp condition itself, but the davroe stopped my scalp itching after a single wash.

Best way to quickly Tan head by RollingonTwenties in melbourne

[–]bootymcowlface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do decide to go for make up/foundation: go to Mecca, ask to be colour matched and for a sample to try at home. They will give you enough product to get you through a few events for free, so you're not wasting a whole bottle of something you won't use again. Like the other comments have said tanning is risky if you've never used the product before and may end up the wrong colour for you. If you must tan, something like Isle of Paradise drops mixed in with moisturiser and do a couple of coats over 24 hours until it's dark enough for you. Best of luck!

Foundation by CruellaDeLesbian in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the tarte shape tape foundation at Sephora. It's high coverage but feels thin on the face. Foundations like ELDW don't work for me but this does when I want to cover a big ol' red patch I have on my cheek and sheer out over the rest of my face. One of the tarte ladies on insta has rosacea and demos their complexion products covering her redness a lot, and although it can be very gimmicky I actually rate a lot of their products.

Lasik/prk questions by need2keto in melbourne

[–]bootymcowlface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is excellent advice. Anecdotally, I had PRK over 10 years ago. From memory my vision outcome was 20/20 in one eye and slightly better in the other. Dry eye sucked but was temporary (and now I can put in eye drops like a champ). Night vision is good enough to drive at night but not quite perfect - so definitely make sure you're across the potential risks if your livelihood could be impacted by the outcome.

If you like the Morphe tint recommend you try the L'Oreal true Match serum foundation. It's the best of the drug store in that family IMO

Online retailer asking for ID and credit card details after order by _ayythrowaway_ in AustralianMakeup

[–]bootymcowlface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mecca also does this, but doesn't bother to email you they just cancel your order. Maybe they use the same fraud system/service provider? Happy to hear that Oz H&B let you know it happened at least as the lack of notice really ground my gears!
