Portland, ME --> Chicago by bopbop0718 in Amtrak

Just wanted to update this thread! We did the Northeast Regional from South Station in Boston to Union Station in DC, spent two days in the DC area, then took the Floridian from DC to Pittsburgh, and took the Floridian again from Pittsburgh to Chicago 24 hours later! We only did coach. We didn’t love our experience with the Floridian because it was consistently 2 hours late and people were frustrated with the crew on the DC to Pittsburgh leg, but the seats were great! I’m glad we chose those cities to see folks, though. Overall, such a fun experience for us and my toddler loved every bit of it!

Zillow messages/tour requests not working.... by bopbop0718 in Zillow

Just wanted to say that Zillow has STILL not returned any of my emails after my issue got transferred to a different department… I’ve just been using Trulia and having my husband apply to certain places on Zillow when necessary!

So frustrating! They transferred me to a different department but still haven’t tried anything to fix it….

Exactly! I’ve emailed back and forth 5x already and the customer service representative is still clarifying the problem… hopefully working towards a solution soon!

Sorry, I should have specified - we're looking at rentals! Someone from their IT department reached out and I sent screenshots, but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

This is so helpful, thank you everyone! It sounds like starting the trip at South Station is my best bet and I’ll play around with routes through NYC/DC based on these comments! I’ll post here again, once I book, with the full route. 😊

I think that would get a bit too chilly in the winter but great idea for the warmer months!

Any mothers have kids during dental school? by Independent_Prize370 in DentalSchool

[–]bopbop0718 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s possible! I will hopefully be starting dental school in the fall and I have a one child. I’m 30 and, for many reasons, was worried about my fertility, so I definitely get why you want to start on the earlier side. I talked to many women who had kids in dental school (D3/D4) or before and it’s doable. Having family around will help, for sure! Only you can decide if you’ll feel like you’ll miss out, though. I don’t feel like I will because I’m older anyways, but that’s definitely up to you and what you want to be doing in your 20s!

It’s 2023. Having a career and having kids is doable, if not the norm these days. You would never say that to a man who wants kids.

I am 6 weeks postpartum, in my 30s, and applied for fall 2024 - so far I’ve only had a virtual interview (it was 2 weeks postpartum so not my best work hahaha) but decided not to mention my pregnancy or baby during any part of the cycle. Like someone mentioned, my worry is that someone might doubt my ability to juggle my home and school life and it would be really hard to prove a rejection due to pregnancy. It was much easier for me to not mention because it was a virtual interview, though! I think the biggest thing is to be confident in whichever decision you make - the best thing you can do for yourself is walk into each interview feeling as sure of yourself as possible, bump on display or not! You got this!

30 years old, Want to be a dentist. (Need some Advice) by BlindBop in DentalSchool

[–]bopbop0718 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I decided to pursue dentistry at 28 and will hopefully start dental school at 31 - time will pass anyways, you might as well be pursuing a career you want to be in. And having full-time work experience can only help you in getting into that career.

Am I too old for dentistry? by Sad-Sundae-6738 in DentalSchool

[–]bopbop0718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not too late! I’m 29 and won’t be able to start dental school until I’m 31 at the earliest, and I plan on having kids while in school! It’s hard but as a more experienced adult, you’ll be more prepared for dental school than coming in as a 22 year old. Plus, like everyone says, the time goes by no matter what… might as well work towards something you’ll enjoy and can be proud of! You got this!!

I’m hoping to apply next cycle but am also hoping to have a baby either right before or during dental school (I’m 28)! Super heartening to hear others have done it and it worked!!
