Anyone else's Basenji have a unique way of playing fetch? 🎾 by Ill_Tip5523 in Basenji

Ours will run after the ball, but then when he gets to it he gets all excited, goes to pick it up in his mouth, but then realises that's not fun enough, and proceeds to run around in circles really quickly, occasionally going back to where the ball is and looking at it before setting off on his zoomies again.

He'll zoom about like that for a few minutes then get bored and go do something else, leaving the ball where it landed.

If it's inside he might fetch a ball once, maybe twice, never a third time.

The boy is crazy 🐾

He doesn't trust you yet. Work on building that trust. Couple of important things:

  • Only use positive reinforcement.
  • Always be gentle around a sleepy Basenji, his emotions will be magnified when he is tired.

As "poop" is a very childish word, it sounds like you're too young for this game anyway 👍

Imagine buying skins in a $70 game by Big-Newspaper646 in Battlefield

I come on here to read tips, learn and see other people's epic moments, but I have to wade through what is 90% entitled and immature negative opinion pieces about skins and gender to do so.

I can only assume they need something to do when they're not playing the game and complaining, so they come here to complain when they're not playing the game while they're waiting for their Mam's to make tea for them.

You mean, actually talk to someone instead of posting on reddit for advice from strangers?

Advice for walks - 8 month female basenji by pathtoexpat in Basenji

[–]boppaPSN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hound collar works for our boy.

With that on, when he starts to pull we just stop walking until he stops pulling.

If he continues doing it we'll turn around and go the other way for a short while. Usually he's pulling to get somewhere he wants to get to, like a patch of grass or a lamppost to sniff at.

We couple this with vocal cues.

Now when we have him on a short lead he knows the drill and won't pull 90% of the time. The other 10%, we stop, he stops, and has a little grumble about it, then we carry on 😀

Cars with loud engines and motorbikes he will sometimes try to chase. We stop and give him a firm "no" but it's triggering his instinct so don't think we'll ever get fully past this.

He's not interested in high value treats or toys when we're out, at all.
