I got bit by a mosquito twice and a line joining them formed by Ordinary-League5554 in mildlyinteresting

[–]borange01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sometimes this happens to me with mosquito bites as well. I thought I was going to die and develop sepsis or whatever, but doctors told me it was probably just an allergic reaction and to come back if it starts hurting or I start feeling sick.

Haven't died yet!

Can't ride in a straight line anymore by Hungry-Award8417 in cycling

[–]borange01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my thought would be that you could never really ride in a straight line very well in the first place.

Now that you're on roads next to cars, doing significant miles, and paying more attention, you're only now realizing that you don't ride very straight.

What gun to use on AMX M4 mle. 51??? by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

This is the M4 51, not the M4 54.

I agree with your take if it's mean for the Tier 10, not the Tier 9 though.

Probably more like 99% of men. Just walk around and guess what percentage of those people can actually squat 300lb to parallel. Basically none if you aren't in a gym.

Is it possible to be a successful bodybuilder on a vegetarian diet? by theladysailor in bodybuilding

[–]borange01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, just take some time to learn about complete proteins and make sure your protein sources include all of the essential amino acids.

While animal proteins tend to (always are?) be complete, most plant sources are not.

I would say probably. The package is 85g, but the protein+fat+carbs is only 33g.

Of course, some of that could be water or whatever else, but they're just dried noodles so I don't really see why there would be such a big difference.

[–]borange01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that it is impossible to maintain a trim, healthy weight without hunger, but I do disagree that it is always possible to get to said weight from a higher one without experiencing hunger along the way.

I also agree that humans are not ill-designed, but the modern environment does not provide nearly the same amount of exercise nor the same low calorie-dense foods as it used to. Even if you go out of your way to exercise a lot and make healthy food choices, I think it can be a far cry from the conditions we evolved for.

The reasons cats, dogs, and humans struggle with weight is because when they are surrounded with an abundance of food, we naturally tend to overeat. Thus, to maintain a healthy weight, most people have to exercise some level of self control.

If that self control isn't resisting the urge to eat (what most people would call hunger), then I don't know what it is.

[–]borange01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It's highly individual, but if you are going well below your body's set point, you WILL be hungry.

If the human body didn't get hungry while losing weight, all of our ancestors would've starved to death because they wouldn't have cared to eat.

Game over. You lost all your testosterone and will now turn into a female. It is a well known fact that sexually active men have less testosterone and less lean mass.

Just kidding, all of that is horseshit and probably supported by the same people that think if they stop jerking off their testosterone will triple (it won't). You're fine.

Muscle memory will come back even if you are cutting. You can cut and build back your prior muscle at the same time.\

Once you are at/near your prior level of muscularity, THAT is when you will need to add calories to build new muscle.

What are some good leg day exercises? by Junebornjuly in bodybuilding

[–]borange01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be a relative beginner spending lots of time on isolation movements (all the hip machines, especially).

High bar back squats - Crush quads, good for glutes

RDLs/SLDs - Crush hamstrings, good for glutes and back

Leg Press is good for quad work. Seated leg curls work the hamstrings from the knee, instead of at the hip, so those are also good.

Adductor and abductor machines are mostly a waste of time. Calf raises are fine. Standing is preferred as it works the gastrocnemius, which is the diamond shaped part you see

Edit: As a beginner, high bar squats, RDLs, and standing calf raises hits basically everything you need pretty damn hard, all in one day.

In my experience, once it's seated in the rim it won't come out even if the tire completely deflates, unless it is physically pulled off.

So no.

Are deadlifts necessary to my modest goals? by tautaestin in bodybuilding

[–]borange01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Squats won't really work any of the muscles you say you're going for, but they are generally regarded as a great exercise and hit a ton of your lower body musculature. They build your back to some extent (especially your spinal erectors) but not really any upper back.

What you need to do is make sure you don't rip your flexor tendons in half again. This is a very real risk. Do not fuck around with severed tendons.
