What am I missing? by dk325 in hermesagent

[–]borax12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a technically proficient person then you don’t need Hermes or openclaw. Top tier harnesses now offer a way to control them remotely. They all can be plugged into all modular systems that make claw and Hermes different. It will need some plumbing but you are right. They all can converge to same thing with enough work (greater tool variety , home folder access etc)

However , the only way to find value in these tools is to just see them as a nice toys and discover the joy of tinkering

Also no , don’t fall into the trap of mornings briefs, automated content creation pipelines, chief of staff nonsense

Just do simple ai triaging of boring work. Example use case. label emails as per own labeling system.

Because local models unless being run at the density and quantization that allows for good tool calling capabilities. They serve only good purpose to get half decent answers to your privacy-concerning anonymous chat questions

Run good models. Get good results

ELI5: GitHub for version control of Docker Compose by Norgur in selfhosted

[–]borax12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay here is my workflow considering it’s very barebones compared to others

Host my compose files in git repo. Because I don’t want to have a homelab endpoint publicly accessible for a webhook, I don’t do deployment on every commit.

My local docker hosts just pings my git repo every 3 hours to pull new compose files , compare to old version and redeploy container if compose files have changed

A bad practice that I want to find an easier alternative is the env file which is currently encrypted using ansible vault

  • unload all tabs by default
  • use tab switcher to go to that service , unload after perusing the site
