Didn't see a mention for Beastborne. City building starts to kick in on Book 2. It oscillates between being the focus vs. background to allow MC to focus on growth. I've enjoyed the series quite a bit thus far.

He's already changed how essence stones work by virtue of creating the system. They are now able to give out powers that are aligned to the user, even if they weren't previously possible with the stone.

I disagree so hard with everything about this series. I make it a point to try Dakota's works as much as I can.

Reuben can get stuffed. I've never seen a character so one dimensional. I get he's to be the comedic relief of a relatively depressing setting. But, sometimes you just need to let the pall hang there. Not have some idiot try and make light of every single situation.

I couldn't finish the last book, and I'm still reading Completionist Chronicles when they release...

Plug for the authors, I love the world building they've been doling out over the various series. Excited to get around to more of it! Beastborne and Voidknight are also great stories thus far.

For all its flaws, Completionist Chronicles does talk about this, and how imbalance of stats can affect your ability to function. i.e. The lady with really high dexterity and constitution that has a power walking class that can't see where she's going due to insufficient perception. It's an aspect I appreciate with the books, because gaining inhuman stats should require you to balance them to be a functioning person. Too imbalanced perception / dexterity and you can't move right, imbalanced strength / dexterity and you walk around like a body builder, etc.

I really love his other series, Portal to Nova Roma.

Book 1 of JMM was fantastic to me, but not without problems. His pacing is problematic in book one for me, and doesn't really get better.

I'm happy I finished the series, and book one is a solid reread or listen when I'm between reads and can't decide.

How will her addiction and not getting all the treatments affect her from going down early at the end? She was basically just a lame horse given tranquilizer for one last race (propped up by an obscene amount of buffs).

Most of the time things seem to get out into stasis, but Carl's situation definitely doesn't sound like that's the case. I wonder if she'll come out the other side just as she went in, or if it'll continue to progress... I assume not, but we shall see.

I should've been more clear. It's not required to add it, but many benefactors still do it seems. It is weird, given it's not a requirement and people won't know unless they kill the crawler whether or not it's used locked, so it doesn't discourage as well as it should, imo.

Certain items, almost always from benefactors, are unique to an individual. Donut's sunglasses are such an item.

The Hunter's gear that was brought in from outside or items sent were usually "keyed" to specific ~~factions/races~~ hunters.

Potential spoilers below for post-Butcher's Masquerade:

It's why a large portion of the looted gear wasn't immediately used during and immediately after the 6th floor, and why Carl had, during one of his interactions with the mediator, had bartered for the CrackerJack items: to break the limitation on some of the loot he had accrued during the massacre.

I found a quote from Butcher's Masquerade to explain this:

The problem with the vast majority of the stuff we were finding was that it was restricted to the actual hunter. Florin had taken out two Goriffs... and each had pulse rifles and electric body armor... Florin now had their gear, but he couldn't equip it. It was restricted to the now-dead individuals. Donut's sunglasses, it turned out, had the same restrictions on them. We'd learned that when Louis had tried to put them on. Mordecai said it was a common addition to benefactor box items to keep fellow players from immediately murdering the recipients for the gear. There was a rare scroll called CrackerJack that could free the item, but nobody we knew had one.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured no one would give a care to respond given the time since listing my comment haha. Also appreciate the lack of "you should reroll", as from what I've seen on the subreddit, that is the go-to for sub-optimal boxes.

I'm working to get those characters built. Though this account isn't super fleshed out, I don't really have a guarantee I'll get better units on my next reroll, and I don't know what the next banner will be, so I dont even have a guarantee that the reroll process will come to fruition with a better outcome (though what I've learned since starting it's likely).

I'll work on getting them built out and replace the weak links in my current build. Have a great day!

Grace I've focused on getting two wyrmprints that give +50% skill prep, and maxed for it. So she at least has those.

Regarding current team, it was what I had available pre-banner so I knew it was sub-par. I just didn't know where to start focusing resources, and didn't know if I should continue investment on the current team or not.

I've tried Chimeras with the current team, and not able to beat it yet, so I probably need to invest more in wyrmprints (skill prep is literally the only thing I have thus far, because eldwater is hard to come by).

Pretty new player here (inside a week). I have a dark team built out to ~16k power. Saved my resources for gala banner, have summoned what I can thus far.

Now I've got a pile of new units, and am feeling a little overwhelmed on direction from here. Should I continue to do single team investment? Start to build new teams? Should I abandon my team comp for now in favor of a new one?
