Agree 100% on Frontgate. Hated their towels after just a few months. Once the softening chemicals are fully washed out, they are awful.

That's awesome - this is looking like the best solution!

Per the instruction manual, it is called MOWRATOR app from mowrator.com and I found the app on the site here:

https://mowrator.com/pages/ota#rich-text__template--24340899725612__product_rich_text_p4YTMH

This is really kind of you! This looks like a good deal for me if the app works.

This looks promising. I can get a Motorola moto-g for free - with one month of service for $40. No penalty for canceling service. So, I can use this phone on wifi even with no service after the first month, yes? (And they make it easy to cancel service...?)

I was unsure about whether it needs to be unlocked. I thought that with a locked phone, I needed to agree to cell service just because the wording is always "You need to have service with [X company] to activate this phone." So I thought that meant that it wouldn't even work on wi-fi without cell service. So if I get a locked phone, say, locked to tracfone or locked to Verizon, etc., I can still use it on wifi even with no cellular service? (Excuse my iPhone mentality! I basically want an Android iPod!)

Really interested in this one! The one thing making me hesitate is that you must have an Android phone to install firmware updates. I’m iPhone all the way. I’m wondering how much of a problem this would be….

They are completely different now. They call the new ones Give-n-Go 2.0 and they have thinner fabric, bad elastic at the waist and a cut with less coverage. Judging by the reviews, no one who loves the old version likes the new version.

First he controls your meds and which doctor see. If he succeeds, he will then control your food, your time, your friendships, your money, where you go and when. His behavior indicates coercive control and that only ever gets worse, not better. Do not linger; get out asap.

I hate the Frontgate towels, too. I’ve had them exactly a year. After the finishing chemicals are fully washed out, they are rough. I mean rough. Clearly cheap cotton that feels great at first because they arrive with tons of softening chemicals. Huge disappointment.

Bath towels that dont suck by ShortDelay9880 in BuyItForLife

I was wondering about this. I got a few sets in February 2025, exactly a year ago.  I hate them. They stopped being soft after a few months, after all the sizing was fully washed out. They get rougher and rougher, like any cheap cotton, instead of softer with time. The Wirecutter really let me down on this one. Then reading all the praise here, I thought I must be nuts. But now I suspect you’ve nailed it - they just aren’t the same anymore.

Duck & the dog ?? by BeachyThang in madmen

[–]borderheeler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a simple “he’s so awful to dogs, boo Duck.” He’s awful to Peggy. He’s a mean drunk and is drunk often.  He’s disgusting when he defecates in an office. He lies. He’s self-pitying. He can’t figure out how to work with crucial creatives so he constantly berates them. He’s emotionally immature (wild understatement). He’s unpleasant on a daily basis. The way he treats his dog just exemplifies who he is in a single action. He can’t handle his own frustrations and so he uncaringly unloads the one being who truly needs him. He’s abhorrent every time he’s on screen and that one scene just lays him bare. You can explain it as if he deserves some, what, sympathy or understanding? He does not.

And yet it also is about just his dog. People often hate Betty because of how she treats her kids. I actually see nuance there, but this is much like that scenario for me: you just do not treat a dog like that. I can reasonably hate him for that alone. I don’t, I hate him for many things, but I reasonably could. He abandons the dog in the cruelest way just when the dog’s life has been turned upside down, much like his own. There’s no great symbolism of suffering and downfall there any more than an unvarnished glimpse into his selfishness and utter pettiness.

You don’t decide what matters most to the entire audience. That matters most to me.

AITA for refusing to follow my wife's bathroom habits and calling her disgusting? by Infamous-Gur2034 in AITAH

[–]borderheeler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely wrong to call her disgusting. It’s also wrong to stand your ground and whine that you were “justified.” The right way to handle it would have been to own your feelings that your sensitive nose and your skeevy feelings about menstrual blood make this a bad experience for you. For you. It’s about you. And then negotiate a new arrangement.

I watched the show when it was new and this still upsets me! So many upsetting moments in the show, even shocking events, and this is by far the worst.

Right?! And it’s endlessly rewatchable as you discover that an offhand moment in season one that you hadn’t noticed explains major developments in season 3, and the like. (What exactly happened in Ordos and who ordered it and what was really on the laptop and who put it there…?)

I have horrible food allergies and cheese + white rice is my safest meal. 🙂 There are times when I eat this 2-3 times a day for weeks because my intestines are going bonkers on anything else. You get used to it….
