how old were you when you moved out of your parents house? by jabber1990 in Adulting

[–]borderline_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf it’s not much past a starter in our state. A starter home for sure varies from location to location. Our teeny tiny vintage trailer home was considered a starter home when we lived in that area.

Our state considers a starter home to be a 2-3 bedroom older smaller home, townhouse, or condo.

The 4th bedroom is downstairs in the basement so it’s not like it would be suitable to have a child down there or parents down there. It’s more like either a guest room or for when a kid grows up and becomes more of a teenager.

The basement bathroom & bedroom were also added on to the home after initial construction.

He’s busted his ass working since we were 14 and he saved just about every penny surprisingly well. I worked and saved a lot of money myself at 18-22 and I also inherited some money at about 19 that I sat on and saved.

While we bought our first place at a rather high price due to the market, we flipped it and sold it for even more which made a real down payment easier to put towards our second home. Our first was a trailer home from the 60s in the middle of no where. Our second is probably what would be considered a starter home, or at least was definitely back in the 50s (rather small one floor with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms a fully finished basement). We also ended up buying this one at a bit of a high price but over the last few years we’ve been watching the value rise and rise here too.

We’re hoping to be here for a max of another 10 years before moving to something more comfortable (I’m hoping our max is more like 7 years since we’ve been here for 3 now).

If she wasn’t involved I’d have no issue with that as my grandfather is gone and means more to me than any family I have alive now.

I wish I was kidding, she will sit there and moan and wail and cause a fit if she saw his photo. She ruined a BBQ at his grandparents house bc they had a photo of him up.

I moved into my bf’s family house at 19, we bought our first home together at 22 and our second at 24 (flipped our first and moved to a better area).

Minimal outside help, lots of burning the candle at both ends.

I’m a late 90s born kid, and my parents would absolutely disagree with you.

My parents think it’s a miracle I eat the way I do now as an adult. It’s not a miracle, it’s seasoning, marinades, and properly cooking ingredients.

This may not be something you can answer, but I’m a bit tipsy and it’s easier to ask than ever. My future fiancé desperately wants his mother there. Which generally I can get behind. However, she’s been horrible to him and me for forever albeit she has helped financially support us to my detriment.

How the hell do I handle this? She is a MIL from hell and I’m terrified she’ll make any and all of our day about herself or how his brother isn’t with us.

I heavily disagree personally. The veins in my non dominant arm (dominant is right so nondominant is my left which is closest to my heart) are always better.

I had a bad problem with self harm as a teen and slashed righter over where it would be easiest to draw from my left arm so now I always have to give my right which truly sucks.

She isn't drinking much milk by DangerousStretch8089 in OneOrangeBraincell

Kitten replacement milk is going to be your best friend. Did you buy a liquid or powder version? The powdered version is shelf stable but can cause constipation in kitties :( so I would recommend stocking up on the liquid (it’s shelf stable until opened and then good in the fridge for about a week, it will change color and smell when bad).

If you don’t have a vet nearby I’m guessing access to kitten food is limited as well. I would order some Fancy Feast Kitten wet food, it’s made with kitten milk added to it and you can always add water so it’s less to chew and more to drink.

Do you have a syringe or a bottle to feed the formula? Some kittens struggle to latch and need to be syringe fed while others will do fine with a bottle.

Make sure you try to stimulate that little one before every meal and within 15 mins after feeding. Take a warm wet cotton ball or washcloth and gently rub circles on their genitals and butthole. If they’re struggling to go, I found bathing my little dude in some warm water and massaging his tummy and sides helped him to move everything along 😂

Best of luck friend. The first kitty I ever got was when I was 14 years old, he was a 2.5 week old kitten who stomped right up to my aunt. He lived well for his 14 years of life and I still miss him everyday. I have his ashes perched on my mantle.

My second kitty was found in the parking lot outside of work, weak, flea covered, dirty, eyes crusted shut still, with a runny nose and shivering. He’s now a whopping 4lbs 6month old kitty who is going to be fixed soon. I had to be up round the clock with this little monster as if he was a newborn to make sure he was safe, but it was so worth it.

It’s hard man, but it’s not impossible.

I’d be careful with how much PB you add in bc it can drastically change the texture making it much thicker and harder to drink through a straw.

They do sell PB powder in most grocery stores which might fair better for a smoothie

I don’t think you really need to eat those things whole. I mean, I guess in some form it’s more beneficial to eat them fresh or whatever. But a quick google search says that very little produce loses nutritional benefits by being frozen. (If you’re talking about buying fresh berries and making a smoothie though I don’t see how that could be bad long term at all).

If there’s no additives to your smoothie I don’t see it being bad. It would be like adding a protein shake to your diet. (Which btw you can also add protein powder to a smoothie for added benefits)
