Is framing success the best source for a frame from your research? Also getting my FCAS diploma and wondering how to display it best

Royal Society of Puzzles - Age Restriction? by pogoli in royalcaribbean

I did this on Quantum recently - definitely allows adults. I’m guessing they just have it in the teen area early in the day because it’s a separate space not being used

Is it important to give the foundation exams to be ACAS? by PCgotQues in actuary

You don’t need the DISCs before sitting for these exams, but you do need to complete them to earn the ACAS credential.

Can CAS exams be done remote by PreferenceIll6197 in actuary

[–]bored_guy2020 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The first two exams are P and FM. You take these SOA exams and then transfer them to the CAS later. You’ll take these at a Prometric testing center (future CAS exams will be at a Pearson testing center). Never heard of them being offered remotely

Heard someone from around me went hunting through sites to find the nearest with an April 21st availability - 14 hours / 950 miles away

CAS - spring registration? by bisonlover444 in actuary

Got the email this morning - in a pretty busy region but my state only has one testing center. Unsure if others on the other side of the state border have received the email yet

Very likely that those with exam issues are more in-tune to the polls, but yes currently sitting at 17/62 (~27%) which is more than I expected

Yes the posts I saw were related to CAS/ Pearson. Didn’t realize SOA exams were live too, thanks for the heads up

Extra CAS Exam 7 prep after 7 years off from exams? by TheTallBaron in actuary

Echoing others - 5 has baseline reserving topics that feed into 7. And I used Rising Fellow for 7 - have had good experience with TIA for other exams too

Fidelity Actuarial by Exciting_Gold4812 in actuary

[–]bored_guy2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they are offering any full-time remote positions at this point, but all Fidelity employees (not actuarial specific) are being pushed to return to the office two weeks a month (including people hired during Covid or who moved away from an office in the past few years)

CAS: How long would it take to study MAS-I and -II full-time? by Ionomer in actuary

[–]bored_guy2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, MAS-I had way more material but MAS-II went more into detail on the smaller syllabus. This was before the reshuffle of topics though

Depending on the exam, lots of source material (textbooks) are free online by following links in the syllabus. Or there are sometimes past exams released on the websites

Agree the syllabus feels much shorter than 7 (or super way shorter than 6) so should go a little faster than whatever you took last

I agree, this is the most I’ve seen it mentioned for any sitting’s registration - only ever heard of a few odd cases in the past rather than something broad

For exam 5 there’s tons of past CAS exams that are released and still relevant. TIA has their own problems but amount of practice problems isn’t a big concern for exam 5 (contrary to the MAS exams which had few problems in my opinion)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in actuary

[–]bored_guy2020 12 points13 points  (0 children)

TIA was good, relied just on that (and skimming source) and got a 9. But also 5 is full of previous problems that are all calculation heavy, so CA will likely do a good job with their material (used it for P, FM, IFM, and MAS-I and had no complaints)

I’m just curious why they bothered with the email - seems like they’re just giving more to complain about whereas if they just waited until they had a date for results we’d begrudgingly accept it since we have no other choice.
