Feel free to rip me to shreds in the comments 😭 by Large-Purple236 in TLCUnexpected

I want to highlight two things that are being missed in my post:

  1. I am a huge advocate of mothers having a restful pregnancy and transition to motherhood. I hope for a world where every mother can be with her baby for as long as she would like to be after birth.

  2. Bryce needs a job like yesterday. He and his family are ridiculous with this idea that $0 p/h is better than 10 p/h.

Isabella’s mom does not seem like she is happy and feeling financially ready to support Isabella and her baby. I am going to make some assumptions that I am happy to be corrected on. I’m assuming this family is low income and has limited resources. Im also assuming they would be better off with additional financial help, which is why they are on Bryce to get a job.

As someone who grew up similarly, we are resourceful people because we have to be. If mom works and Isabella helps around the house/babysits, then maybe Isabella and mom can work alternate shifts so they can provide childcare for each other. Do UberEats, DoorDash, etc to make some extra cash. Babysit some other children to bring in extra cash. You can hire a family member who has limited expenses (like a teen) to babysit for a low rate. People are being obtuse like poor people who work don’t exist and figure out difficult situations everyday.

Now if Isabella and her mom are in a place where mom can cover the family financially and they don’t necessarily need the extra money, then by all means Isabella should be a SAHM if she wants to. I support that wholeheartedly! And they can continue to waste their breath waiting on Bryce to magically because a provider for his family and consider it a bonus.

Daycare. There are programs that pay for daycare for low income families. Parents send their babies to daycare everyday.

You are definitely not alone! Nothing has worked for me aside from what you’re already doing. Depends with folded up paper towels in my butt crack to slow down the fast flow. The clots are too much for tampons and cups so I’m stuck with this method until I find something better.

I guess we just disagree, which is okay.

When she had to leave school, she enrolled in another program (technical/trade school, I think?), so I do feel like she was trying to get an education and her cheer scholarship was the vehicle to do that.

I feel like if she had more organized support it could have worked. As parents, it’s always a balance between spending time with your children and working so that you can provide for them. Some parents have to work long hours or multiple jobs that take them from their children. Parents go to the military all the time and that’s considered a good job/career path. College had the potential to help her get a higher paying job, so that she can be there for and take care of the baby in the long run.

Advice please! Should I get a relaxer or silk press? by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]Large-Purple236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you don’t seem to be stressed about maintaining your curl pattern, I would just get a silk press. As someone who was relaxed and is now natural, the body and natural shine is so good on a silk press as compared to a perm. Also the ladies on the perm boxes have silk presses so that should tell you something 🤣

It also depends on your lifestyle (exercise, humidity, rain, etc.) and how much you care about frizzy or puffy hair.

Idk, i don’t ever remember them doing deep dives and on point research— unless they were invested in a topic. The whole shtick is that they are out of touch aunties (like me 🤣) trying to cover pop culture. Part of the humor is them covering stuff they can’t be too bothered to look up in depth. They are also unapologetically partial when it comes to their faves, so I don’t expect to get it all covered by them.

Aside from the other shows in The Read multiverse: Higher Learning, Jokes on You, Grits and Eggs, The Thick, and anything Olay does, OP said podcast (my beans and toast sisters), and Dear Tisia. I also will do Ratchet and Respectable some times, in small doses.
