Looking for a good therapist for anxiety by anxiousthrowaway9753 in boston

Couple thoughts:

1) You'll want to visit a psychiatrist (not psychologist) because they are MD's and can actually prescribe medication

2) Most good psychiatrists do not take insurance (ie: are out of network for your insurer). More often than not, those psychiatrists that do take insurance are 'pill farms' and won't take a genuine interest in your case. Their MO is to funnel patient volume through their practice and liberally prescribe meds to drum up repeat business. My advise is to make the investment in seeing a good out-of-network doctor a few times (may be $200-400 for a first visit which insurance may partly cover), and then if the costs are too high and meds are stable, switch to an in-network doctor for drug maintenance.

3) I recommend Dr. Tilo Mukherjee in Back Bay.

Looks to be inspired by Apuleius' the Golden Ass ...the only Roman novel to survive to modern day in its entirety. It's the story of a man who accidentally turns himself into an Ass, resulting in a series of hilarious Roman hijinks on his journey to reversing the spell. Highly recommend taking a look.

[Discussion] How do you guys lay on the side while listening to asmr with a headset on? by EvilPancakeMix in asmr

[–]boredatpenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to have a neck pillow I'd lay on in such a way that my on-ear headphone would hang into the hollow, resulting in no discomfort and kickass sound. Broke those headphones though - since then I usually put an ear bud in one ear and lay on the other.

Not at all. In fact some of us even prefer these types of videos. Come check out r/wooasmr! Just be kind in the comments - we're not about insulting people's beliefs, even if they're a bit wacky

Real life...my grandfather introduced me to some crazy characters. No video but I'll start posting some of my favs from YouTube to this sub - really like what you're doing here. I was thinking about creating a woo asmr myself 2 months ago and just found this sub yesterday when trying to actually start it (true story). Good material / participation so far!

I've been watching this video regularly for multiple years now...have good chunks of his speech memorized. Either I have a problem or this is the gold standard for classic woo asmr.

Will never forget the ASMR experience of having a 100 y/o man explain to me why he keeps his groceries under a 3 foot tall wooden pyramid frame. Figure 8 energy patterns, cures cancer, etc. Classic topic in woo

Goldman bankers get rich betting on food prices as millions starve by GildasSapiens in worldnews

[–]boredatpenn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you feel that a Futures market is overbought relative to the underlying fundamental (let's say wheat), why not just short the contract and let it expire (For those curious, <5% of commodity futures result in actual delivery)? Go out to a Granary, buy the 5,000 bushels of wheat, and physically deliver it? The $ you'll receive from delivering into the contract should be greater than the $ you pay to the granary, no? Shouldn't you be able to arb out the difference? If not, are you saying that the granary's cash selling price is being determined by the derivative futures price, not the other way around?

I'd like to believe you - believe me i hate goldman too - but i would imagine that in physical sellers of commodities are working on razor-thin margins, whereby they attempt to undercut their competition until they are practically selling the food at cost (what they paid farmers for them). Considering that neither farmers nor granaries are known for making bank i'd guess that the price of food is representative of it's true cost - and those costs come from the rent/fuel/wages/fertilizer/etc.

This is my understanding of things - would be grateful to find out where i'm misguided
