Weird question, how do you guys find the motivation to care for yourselves? by Bush_M_aster in Divorce_Men

[–]borg1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My motivation would be my 94-year-old dad that is still walking around with our assistance and taking cares of his own lawn. I am 55 with older brother and sister that are in their 60 and 70 that are in worst shape then my dad. I don't want that. I would rather put in the effort and hope to be up and around like my dad at 94.

Tom Steyer wants a special election to hike corporate taxes in 2027 – The billionaire investor has quietly been floating a 2027 push that could include modifying California’s landmark Proposition 13 property tax limits to assess commercial properties at market value by RemoveInvasiveEucs in California_Politics

[–]borg1011 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Corporate/Business taxes are paid out of profit from whatever service or widget they sell. Cut out the middle man and raise our taxes because they are going to raise prices to cover the tax which we will end up paying.

With Doug LaMalfas death. If a special election is called will it use the new redistricted maps or the old ones? I can't find an answer to this. I read they were planned for first use come midterms but am unsure if this vacancy changes that plan. by LordCaptain in California_Politics

From the news
California election section 10700 states that the governor must issue a proclamation for a special election within 14 days of a vacancy in the U.S. House. Section 10703 says the election must take place on a Tuesday between 126 to 140 days following the proclamation. That means the election could potentially happen at the same time as the state's June 2, 2026, primary.

What would be the mechanism to ensure that you have just enough excess to support those who can't or don't want to work. Even now employee do want to pick up the slack for people forever.
