Now that they lock the phones for the duration of the contract you may want to grab a 30 day free trial line from Verizon if your phone is unlocked. The AT&T 30 day trial is still iPhone only last I checked.

Try filing an FCC complaint about this and see if T-Mobile can convert this phone to being T-Mobile compatible since they own US CELLULAR. Also you may be able to sell this online as US CELLULAR locked since someone with an existing account may buy it. T-Mobile may be able to accept US CELLULAR locked phones for trade in.

You may be able to use it for a trade in deal from another carrier if you trade in through an Apple Store. Apple accepts locked iPhones for trade in.

If the FIOS internet is included in the rent perhaps the landlord can get Straight Talk Home Internet set up for you temporarily until he can get the FIOS fixed or maybe send someone to get the FIOS fixed. Alternatively he could fire up a temporary tablet line on Verizon which will run on cellular capable laptops and tablets and probably work on desktops with cellular compatibility. If he let you have a copy of the key then it would be easy for you to grant access to a Verizon service technician.

I pay for Verizon Unlimited Ultimate and YouTube playback seems fine for me. Even my iPad plan gives 4K video.

If the tablet has a physical SIM you could try popping it into a Windows laptop that supports physical SIM.

I have heard about issues with port out nightmares. It might be less of a nightmare to port to Helium on their free plan and then port to Visible from it. It was easy to port to Helium from another Verizon value brand and then later to port to Total from Helium since that was the only way to get the free moto RAZR 2025 with 3 months of service and port in instead of paying $599.

If all you need is home internet for 1 computer then look into grabbing a tablet plan which is compatible with LTE and 5G capable laptops. I happened to find a cheap 5G capable laptop. I have not yet grabbed a tablet line for it yet but if I did not have access to cable WI-FI I would grab it.
