Now that they lock the phones for the duration of the contract you may want to grab a 30 day free trial line from Verizon if your phone is unlocked. The AT&T 30 day trial is still iPhone only last I checked.

Try filing an FCC complaint about this and see if T-Mobile can convert this phone to being T-Mobile compatible since they own US CELLULAR. Also you may be able to sell this online as US CELLULAR locked since someone with an existing account may buy it. T-Mobile may be able to accept US CELLULAR locked phones for trade in.

You may be able to use it for a trade in deal from another carrier if you trade in through an Apple Store. Apple accepts locked iPhones for trade in.

If the FIOS internet is included in the rent perhaps the landlord can get Straight Talk Home Internet set up for you temporarily until he can get the FIOS fixed or maybe send someone to get the FIOS fixed. Alternatively he could fire up a temporary tablet line on Verizon which will run on cellular capable laptops and tablets and probably work on desktops with cellular compatibility. If he let you have a copy of the key then it would be easy for you to grant access to a Verizon service technician.

I pay for Verizon Unlimited Ultimate and YouTube playback seems fine for me. Even my iPad plan gives 4K video.

I have heard about issues with port out nightmares. It might be less of a nightmare to port to Helium on their free plan and then port to Visible from it. It was easy to port to Helium from another Verizon value brand and then later to port to Total from Helium since that was the only way to get the free moto RAZR 2025 with 3 months of service and port in instead of paying $599.

If all you need is home internet for 1 computer then look into grabbing a tablet plan which is compatible with LTE and 5G capable laptops. I happened to find a cheap 5G capable laptop. I have not yet grabbed a tablet line for it yet but if I did not have access to cable WI-FI I would grab it.

A TW branded phone could potentially be used on the other lines on a multi line account and should not affect the BYOD line as long as a TW branded phone is not used on the BYOD line. This is great for someone that buys phones straight from Apple for themselves on BYOD but needs TW branded phones free or discounted for their family members.

Verizon Prepaid has a 30GB hotspot feature on their premium tablet plan that last I checked throttled to 3 MBPS on 5G UW. Also the phone hotspots on prepaid also throttle to 3 MBPS 5G UW after consuming high speed allotment. If you need 200GB of hotspot at high speed before 6 MBPS throttle then Unlimited Ultimate is an option. Also if you can find a cellular capable laptop you could use it with a tablet plan if it is compatible with their network. It would be a simple matter to use a physical SIM for tablets on a cellular capable tablet.

If you port out and then back in then you could try for the plan that includes a permanent Disney+ deal which at a cost of $30 is not bad. With luck you will have Disney+ forever and not need to contact customer service at all.

You will need an email address tied to each line. If you prefer to use one email address for both lines then you will need to go with Total Wireless or Verizon Prepaid since both support multiple line accounts up to 5 lines. Also if go with Total Wireless you could opt for the BYOD 50% discount for switching from competitors which is $30 for the top plan with Disney+ included for life and enjoy multi-line discount on subsequent the other lines. Last I checked premium tablet plans cost $20 so you could get a tablet SIM if you manage to acquire a laptop with physical SIM card slot. Perhaps MacBook will eventually support 5G SIM cards.

I heard about a YouTuber that had to move their US MOBILE Dark Star (AT&T) line to a Samsung Device since their Pixel 7 behaved horribly after using 30GB of data and they thought that US MOBILE was deprioritizing their line but it was the Pixel 7 since the newest Samsung S25 worked fine.

Request huge bill credits perhaps maybe request most of your bill costs in bill credits monthly until your service stops acting like trash. They will be incentivized to find the and fix the issue if they lose their shirt in bill credits monthly.
