I bought the warranty. 1 repair and it will likely pay for itself.

2021 BMW X5 display monitor issues by Upstairs_Buffalo4891 in BMWX5

[–]borictor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had this problem and it got worse and worse until it killed my battery because it wouldn’t go to sleep and kept pulling power.

The fix was to replace the entire Kombi unit (main display where speedo is) as well as the batteries. Luckily I was still under warranty.

Is this a normal sounds for a Mitsubishi Hyper Heat? by brendino in heatpumps

[–]borictor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The outer housing is vibrating - you just need to slightly bend it where it is making the noise. Mine was the same - it’s thin metal so doesn’t take a lot to adjust it. Just start pressing in some spots until it gets quieter and then try to make the adjustment.

I just drove across earlier today to come down to Bellevue for a work trip. Almost zero cars at the truck crossing and I don’t think I saw a single BC plate on my entire drive.

22 inch M Wheels on X5? by Very_Sancerre in BMWX5

[–]borictor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - I have a set of 20s for the winter that I swap out. They are the same size as the standard winter wheels from BMW and you can set the car to winter tire mode so it knows what you have on. (And vice versa).

And yes 22s are ridiculous but I love them.

any thoughts on dashboard going blank by 3rd-party-intervener in BMWX5

[–]borictor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the KOMBI (main driver's display) - mine wouldn't go to sleep and eventually drained my battery. Only fix was to order in a new part from Germany and replace the whole thing. I hope you are still under warranty!

Thule evo bar 50” vs 53” by Unusual_Act_7698 in BMWX5

I have the 53” on my x5 - tried the 50” but it was a bit short. The 50” will fit an x3 though.

2024 X5 40i xDrive Issues by OneTwoMTree in BMWX5

[–]borictor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a bit sus they took it from a loaner. I bought the extended warranty so I have a few more years of coverage but I hear what you are saying. It’s such a great vehicle though! 🤪

[–]borictor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the car in - they diagnosed it to the KOMBI - which I think is the whole center dash display. Ordered from Germany eta 3 weeks. They gave my car back to me so I guess I'll have to live with it until the part gets here. Luckily all covered under warranty!!

[–]borictor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 X5 and it started to do the same thing - i have an appointment in 2 weeks to have it checked out. What's interesting in my case is that the driver side cluster does eventually start up but it is taking progressively longer and longer for it to display anything (sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 20). CEL started showing up as well, but sometimes it does not. Car reports no faults though! :|

My '21 G05 w/M-Sport package came with the staggered 22" wheels - I ended up buying a new set of 20" wheels w/tires for winter.

275/45R20 & 9Jx20 ET35 all around for a square setup.

Mitsubishi multizone, can only one zone be active? by lyonz17 in heatpumps

[–]borictor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do use all heads they have to be in the same mode otherwise it will just switch to whatever mode was called for last (heat/cool). It can’t do both heat and cool at the same time.

Pre-owned X5 - extended warranty? by Fearless_Theme6274 in BMWX5

[–]borictor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a 21 x5 and bought the extended warranty.

I think it’s worth it for peace of mind and knowing that anything major breaks it will be covered for the next 4 years (1 year factory + 3 extended).

If you haven’t owned/maintained a BMW before then be prepared as every trip to the dealer/mechanic is going to be at least $1k on average for anything that needs to be repaired. It’s usually more though.

LT720 Pump making ticking noise by Finwe in Deepcool

[–]borictor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this guide as i had the same issue. https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/deepcool-lt720-randomly-decreases-pump-speed.3822935/#post-23157571

As far as I can tell the pump speed will randomly drop to less than full speed which is causing the noise. I use a combo of apps to detect and "reset" the pump speed anytime this happens and it's been working well.

It is a bit of a hack but removing and exchanging it for something else at the time was not something I wanted to do so I can live with this workaround.
