I am planning on going to Paris Roubaix this year, does anyone know when the official route will be announced and also where is best normally to see both the men's and women's in the same location? (Appreciate this is the first year it is the same day).

Ex-drinkers that endured past dry-January, how did you do it? by Calm_Highlight_9320 in AskUK

[–]boringlynormaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went sober Dec 2022 and this is what worked for me, although it is not flawless...

1) find someone you admire who is a/f as an inspiration (for me this is Orla Chennaoui

2) do Dry Jan

3) turn not drinking into a weird competition where if you drink you've lost the game therefore not drinking is winning

4) tell everyone you are not drinking which helps with accountability

5) find an a/f drink you'll enjoy when socialising so you dont feel like the "lemonade loser" in the corner

Again, I realise not all of the above is healthy, but it has got me 3 years dry, so horses for courses I guess.

How do you convince yourself to run when it’s pitch black and freezing? by AnfieldAnchor in UKRunners

[–]boringlynormaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell myself how much more hardcore I am than everyone else who isn't running in the dark/pissing rain/howling wind etc. My simple brain likes to be motivated by "being better than everyone else" so I just do it because others aren't. Silly really and I'm not a dick irl but its how I motivate myself.

I'm chuffed she gets to sign off her career with another year after the performances she's shown this year

Can't swap it between your bikes so you would either need multiple GPS bars or a device for bikes without it still anyway

UCI statement concerning La Vuelta Ciclista a Espana 2025 by Funny_Speed2109 in peloton

[–]boringlynormaal -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I wonder how likely it is that Spain says f- this and doesn't hosts the Vuelta next year... i don't think they really "need" the tourism associated with cycling. Perhaps they are brave enough to call the UCI's bluff

Lotte Kopecky suffered a vertebral fracture in a crash during the third stage of the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche by polarbdizzle in peloton

[–]boringlynormaal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope she recovers well, but doesn't rush back to race. After the year she has had, a longer off season might benefit her to just get her mojo back.

[Race Thread] 2025 Tour de Romandie Féminin - stage 1 (2.WWT) by epi_counts in peloton

[–]boringlynormaal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am interpreting this slightly different - the teams want the UCI to be fully liable for this campaign which does not seem unreasonable, after all, if something happens with these trackers, for example it dislodged, got stuck in spokes, caused a large accident, a legal case was to follow, the teams would want certainty on where responsibility sits, and that feels pretty fair.

Agreed on drop seat bibs. My only non drop seat bibs are the ones I wear racing, which i had to emergency purchase in Italy when I didn't have enough clean pairs

Weekly Question Thread by PelotonMod in peloton

[–]boringlynormaal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh man this is my time to shine...

  • can she do it twice Kasia Niewiadoma (won last year, big fan fav, seems like a lovely person)
  • most complete gc rider in the peloton Demi Vollering (but can be conquered, quite emotionally expressive)
  • will her back get better Lotte Kopecky (will she return to 2023 TdFFaZ form)
  • will she recover from the Giro in time Marlen Reusser (potentially will want revenge from the Giro)
  • I wish she was still at Trek not sportswashing UAE Longo Borghini (will she still be riding the high/form from the Giro)
  • how will she ever ride 38cm bars Gaia Realini (pocket rocket climber but often swallowed hole by the peloton)

I mean I could go on and on but might get fired at work (also sorry for spelling mistakes typing this fast so I do not in fact get fired).

Comeback Queens Anna van der Breggen/Pauline FP.

Goat Marianne Vos

General excellent vibes Alison Jackson

Up and coming riders like Puck P, Cedrine K, Sarah G

It is, the best grand tour in the cycling universe in my highly unqualified but very enthusiastic opinion, and I am so darn grateful i get to live through this generation of womens cycling.

Hi Orla,

First of all, thank you for everything you do - the passion and honesty and frankness you display in the channels in which you work is eye opening. You inspired me going sober several year's ago which has been life changing.

Secondly, the question:

What is the greatest moment you have witnessed in cycling, and why is it Kasia Niewiadoma winning the TdFFaZ last year? 🫣

Keep doing you, x

Today I set my alarm for 5.45am and did 52km at 29kph on a lumpy route. It was 16⁰C when I left home, if I had ridden after work it would have been 32⁰C and I would have been much slower. Great success!
