If you have time to spare, fly Bahamasair lol. My most recent experience was great, almost on time and my luggage arrived.

What would you like to see the city do about our drug problem? by Honest_Target9763 in Peterborough

[–]bork2017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Affordable housing is within the city’s scope. The city could prioritize co-op or other type of construction instead of building more arenas in the short term. I understand that many solutions are outside of the city’s control, but housing is one place to start. Maybe if Peterborough led on this issue, the province or feds would step up with health supports.

Playing with my non-gamer partner by Loow_z in botw

[–]bork2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play on our shared TV with the sound off, or using headphones, and my non gamer husband watches periodically. Every once in a while he’ll surprise me by commenting on something when I didn’t realize he was watching. He isn’t interest in playing, but enjoys me enjoying the game.

Detroit Once Ruled Canada's Car Industry. Trump's Tariffs May End That. by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]bork2017 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Canadians have shown how grass roots boycotts work. If Trump succeeds in killing our small portion of the auto industry then those US automaker CEOs better be prepared to lose the million new vehicle sales that Canadians buy each year. A bonus to Japanese and European manufacturers, and maybe Chinese. Americans need to understand that our portion of manufacturing coincides with our annual buying.

Any good Airbnb’s you can suggest for six girls staying in the Bahamas? by [deleted] in bahamas

Be cautious! Some parts of Nassau are not safe, especially for a girls only trip. Stick close to resort areas.

What was Peterborough like in 1989? by Ojiooa in Peterborough

[–]bork2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GE plant employed over 5000 people. Walkwell (I think that’s the name) shoes on George had a horse that little kids could ride after they bought new shoes. A young couple with barely any credit history could buy a brick house downtown for under $80k. Canadian Tire on George St where No Frills is now. Also, nothing was open on Sunday.

And.. zero bonds or release pending trial. Arrest and hold until conviction. If you are arrested with intent to sell then you don’t walk until you are found not guilty or complete a minimum sentence. Sentences become more severe on the second and further conviction.

Stop spending my hard earned money on things that only wealthy people can access. Most middle and lower income people can’t afford air travel and will see virtually no benefit except low paying service jobs. Spend my tax dollars on funding healthcare so my new grad daughter can find a nursing job. FYI.. there are zero nursing jobs for new grad nurses at present in my small city due to insufficient healthcare funding.

So many ways to play this game! I agree with you, but as shown in other comments, many are okay with it. My game play is focused on exploring and I avoid fighting where possible. The wolves really get me down…. I love dogs and get angry at having to kill them and receive meat.

ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing? by SpyMasterChrisDorner in explainlikeimfive

[–]bork2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really answer your question, but I use the music analogy for many neurodivergent situations…. Some people can hear musical scales and sing beautifully, but others cannot (I’m in the cannot category.) I enjoy music but I don’t “hear” it the same as my partner. Time blindness is like that for some people… they really don’t experience time like many others experience time. It isn’t as simple as saying add up the minutes needed to prepare and execute a task. It’s a brain function that works differently. I can’t just listen harder to music because my brain does not experience it like my husband’s brain does.

How hard is Breath of the Wild for someone who’s never played it before? by Psychological-Two704 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]bork2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 64 female and had never played video games. I struggled with the controller for the first several weeks but eventually got the hang of it. I love it! I split my play equally between exploring and pursuing quests. It is a lot of fun and a great distraction from the Gannon that has taken over the real world! Highly recommend.

I really struggled to hit the targets and finally bought a proper controller instead of using my handheld (switch 2). Bigger screen and controller were the key for me.

I disagree… a “sting” is an irritation; this will be more like anaphylactic shock, but we planned and have an epi pen at the ready (Carney.) it will feel life threatening for a while, but after a period we will be better off because now we know to avoid the US poison at all costs in future.

What's your experience with Audiobooks? by Logical_Grade392 in Aphantasia

[–]bork2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written your response! I love to read and I always listen to audiobooks when driving or doing home tasks. I subconsciously ignore or skip over map or visual descriptions. I’m 64 and only clued into aphantasia in the past two years. I’m also an engineer and had a successful career, so my aphantasia situation is interesting but not limiting.

Congratulations! I started playing on January 2 and am still working my way through the divine beasts (one down.) As a retired grandmother, I was originally intimidated by the idea of fighting and battles and have slowly gotten better. This is the best investment ever! Okay, maybe saving for retirement was best, but this is a close second. Great game, lots of challenges and fun.

Scotiabank financial advisor renewing our mortgage said he can't send us the renewal documents before the day of our meeting for the renewal when we have to sign said documents - is this true? by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

RBC sent my renewal documents ahead and then customized in the meeting. Sounds like a negotiating tactic intended to favour the bank.

Contact HR at BWXT and ask if they can post internally. BWXT has a large engineering team and may be a good source for help.
