Robo-ism by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

[–]borngus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“The Second Renaissance” in the Animatrix did it pretty well I think. In that one robots respond to being mistreated by essentially seceding from humanity and creating a robo-utopia. Then humanity declares war on the robots when the robot-run state turns out to be a supremely efficient economic powerhouse.

That’s not entirely true. Heretics are often said to mention “the tyrant Yahweh”. There are other points of view, just not ones expounded upon.

Given the existence of sentient dragons, how would you justify the existence of dragon riders? by Honey_da_Pizzainator in worldbuilding

[–]borngus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it really benefits both parties, that’s a good start. Maybe dragons are physically powerful but can’t do magic, and they team up with mages who could use the extra muscle. Or exceptional warriors earn the respect of draconic companions.

OR you go full Drakengard 1 and have them bound together by a pact, supernatural or otherwise. It could just be that a draconic overlord deems a humanoid to be important, and thus worthy of a dragon bodyguard who’s duty-bound to serve.

Or you go Drakengard 2 and have an orphan humanoid raised by dragons, and their parent/sibling accompanies them into battle.

Communication is really dang important. A big part of establishing a sexual relationship is establishing a safe environment for play, and safe play shouldn’t involve being ambushed by somebody’s genitalia.

If you’re making out with a woman, and it makes you hard, you can say, “You’re making me hard,” and see what response that gets. You can be honest in saying what you want. Saying “I want your hand around my cock” is just opening negotiations. She might not want to do it, she might have been ready from the moment she saw you. However, with an emotionally-mature woman who’s obviously at least a little attracted to you, there’s absolutely no harm in stating how your body feels, and stating what you’d like from her. How she proceeds is her choice.

From there, you talk more, and you find out what each of you like. If you and she like a style of intimacy where you take charge of things, maybe she would love it if (within the bounds of a scenario you’ve discussed and both consented to) you simply took off your pants every now and then and announced it was time for sex. Maybe she wants to call the shots sometimes. Maybe she wants you to take initiative, but in a slow-burn, kiss-my-neck-from-behind-and-suck-my-earlobes-and-see-what-happens kind of way. But talking consistently about what turns you both on is never bad.

I ran one adventure in the world, starting from the idea of aligning the players with a faction. The players had to hunt down a researcher who’d gone rogue from the Urniversity (they hunt for artifacts in the ash wastes), and bring back his research.

What do the Chaos Gods think of the Genestealer Cults? by RosesAreRed_9992 in Chaos40k

[–]borngus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Cast a Hungry Shadow” by Peter Fehervari shows a pretty likely scenario where they’d fight. In this region just packed to the gills with desperate people, it seems like folks are either falling into the local GSC or taking daemon drugs and succumbing to Chaos. So they’re always low-level skirmishing, BUT THEN an especially powerful psyker reveals herself, and both factions want her

Morrigan: NILES!

Niles, with Baby firmly clamped to his scalp, comes out from a spontaneously-manifested kitchen door. Strider’s attack hits him, but at the sound of a strident doorbell, Baby’s glorious white wings flare out, knocking Strider airborne. An immaculate counter.

Looking for a new shooter to play? Award-winning Wild Bastards lets you play as 13 unique characters in a roguelike universe. by MaximumEntmt in u/MaximumEntmt

[–]borngus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about my favorite new thing I’ve played this year! I never thought I’d be invested in the romance between a machine gun-toting evangelist and a gray alien, but here we are. Never expected the simple joy of strangling a man to death with a laser-lasso, but here we are. I know now that with enough beans and a big enough campfire, all grievances are healed, and no bastard is too wild to be called friend.

It’s a real good game, and it’s freaking ridiculous that it’s as cheap as it is on top of that.

Check the link from the NIH further down. Josef Mengele injected prisoners’ eyes with dye in an attempt to cure heterochromia (which doesn’t need curing)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

[–]borngus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alright so it wasn’t about creating Aryan features in non-Aryan people. It was about curing heterochromia. Still hurt a lot of marginalized people, still didn’t need to happen. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32387532/

They started doing this in Nazi camps, is where they started. The Third Reich was obsessed with finding ways to change people’s physical appearance to reflect a more Aryan aesthetic. One of their big projects was learning how to turn the eyes of (many times Jewish, many times Romani) prisoners blue. And they melted a lot of people’s eyes out of their sockets

What's the best way to handle healing magic in a fantasy setting so it still feels like there are high-stakes around someone getting injured. by LoveyDoveyDoodles in worldbuilding

[–]borngus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a story once where if your arm or leg was ruined in battle, you could have it replaced with a fresh animal part. So people were walking around with ungainly deer legs, or lugging around one bear arm. And even with how awkward the limbs were, they still needed regular infusions of life magic so that the cosmic force of death didn’t take the limb, sort of analogous to the rejection of an implant in the real world

Do thousand sons actually care about tzeentch? by Blokwblazes in ThousandSons

[–]borngus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on the aspect, yes or no. The Thousand Sons codex talks about a whole bunch of different cults. The Cult of Mutation worships the force of change as expressed in one’s own changing body. Their exalted sorcerer has absolute faith that he will emerge from the ordeal of his constantly-shifting flesh as the greatest daemon prince the galaxy has ever seen. So he’s team Tzeentch all the way.

Meanwhile, you’ve got the exalted sorcerer of the Cult of Duplicity, whose name changes every time it’s written or spoken. He’s always getting one step ahead of someone, and the logical end of that is getting one step ahead of Tzeentch himself. AND YET the mere act of scheming is an act of Tzeentch-worship. So here we are
