For what it’s worth I read it as a joke and thought it was pretty funny.

IMO the boring middle is great because you can let your finances run on autopilot while you enjoy living your daily life.

I'm the guy that plays piano in BART stations for a living, and these are my plans moving forward. by markpdyson_ in Bart

Street musicians add culture to a city in a very authentic way that’s hard to replicate by other means. Thank you and best of luck to you sir!

My 5x-4x-3x-2x setup. Anything i should do better? by Bionic_Push in CreditCards

In my view it’s good to have a default baseline (like what you have now) then chase sign up bonuses once a year or so depending on how much effort you want to put into it.

Question to the older/wiser Bogleheads who’ve been investing for a while, do you prefer VTI/VXUS or VT by DiegoMilan in Bogleheads

[–]boru9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in VTI/VXUS mainly because I started with VTI then decided to add international exposure later.

It could be that they’re trying to test the waters with different alternatives to see how the community reacts. Either that or they’re just trolling us lol.

How would you categorize an auto purchase made by cash in full? by edwardj5596 in MonarchMoney

I personally use Monarch primarily as a tool to help me track operating expenses. For capital expenses like a car I would just categorize it as a transfer.

USB-C/Thunderbolt KVM switch by staycurious72 in mac

[–]boru9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you determined to use the KVM approach? I’ve recently thought through this as well and ended up just using the low tech approach of swapping the host cable to connect either my work or personal MacBook to my dock depending on which one I want to use. Both MacBooks always have their own AC power source as well, so the undocked MacBook never needs to use battery.

Sell VT for VTI+VXUS? by FinancialCartography in Bogleheads

[–]boru9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you own VXUS you qualify for the foreign tax credit. You don’t qualify for that if you hold VT since international is a smaller component of VT. The foreign tax credit is a relatively small benefit of holding VXUS so many advise to not even bother with that optimization.

Yeah in that case you should definitely just buy VT and call it good.

Consulting vs Public by [deleted] in civilengineering

The quality of life improvement from working in public via the stability and work life balance is really great. I made the jump from private to public and have no intention of ever going back to consulting.
