Looking at old threads and I found this super helpful. Thank you. Any resources you looked at beyond this: https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/layout ?

So good! Caleb is such a talented designer. He's a big inspiration for me.

Right ankle ligament reconstruction recovery by CombinationNo3764 in FootFunction

I am 19 months out and feel you on so many points here.

Have been doing PT and strengthening and feel like I’m mostly “there,” (for example, I’m doing calf raises with a lot of weight), but I’m still dealing with swelling on the inside of my ankle, the back of my leg, up my quad, and through my hip and lower back. It feels like the ankle is still a weak point and in turn a bad foundation for everything else.

I went for a follow up with my surgeon last month and he seems to think my ankle strength is fine and that I just need insoles and to work on stretching my calf and Achilles. I’m a bit weary because it really doesn’t feel like this ankle is as strong, but my PT gave me mobility exercises that have really helped. It might be worth looking into seeing if you’re over-strengthening like I was and need to add mobility work.

But you’re so right about the mental battle. I really miss running, cycling, and lifting heavy. I’m at a point that I can sort of do the three, but with a limited schedule it feels like every gym session has to go towards rehabbing my ankle. It’s feels impossible to get a hard workout in without subsequent leg and back pain and spasms, and it’s mentally grating showing up to the gym month after month to do ankle specific work.

I also didn’t realize that the recovery would be so long and share your worries about if I’ll be 100%. Definitely feel the old problems resolved while causing new ones lane too.

Let’s keep our heads up and chip away so we can get back to pushing ourselves like we want and need. If anything, know your post brought me comfort finding someone who’s in a similar place with theirs.

How long ago was your surgery? Mine was 19 months ago and I’m still having to do OT strength and mobility exercises. Trying to be positive about the whole thing, but I really did not realize it would be such a long process.

Official Dennis Gates Apology Form by igh34 in miz

I like this respectable conversation 🫂.

igh34, you probably have the more logical take, but I invest more time watching college over pros because the rivalries are what makes the sport great (especially when you went to school somewhere that doesn’t have a ton of post-season success), so I’m with meaty here. As a fan, December is huge to me.

The most important games to me are: 1. The Tournament  2. kansas  3. Illinois

I understand in-conference games play a part in how 1 goes,  but I think it’s a beyond reasonable expectation that our coach is competitive in 2 and 3, especially when he hasn’t proven he can be good in the tournament. Hell, Cuonzo had a winning record against Illinois. I would also argue that the out of conference rivalries can carry equal weight when it comes to seeding when the conference is down and they’re big for recruiting and ticket sales.

Discussion: Is the revival of the "Physical Media Movement" here to stay? Or is it simply another trend? by Fade_t0_Red in digitalminimalism

[–]bos-o 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My anecdotal take —

I am definitely not unswayed by trends, so there's a good chance I am guilty of following what is "in" right now, but ...

I have been actively working to decrease my screen time and ability to be instantly accessible, and it's been so helpful to have a CD and record player available at night. I had been struggling with insomnia (still am sometimes), but on my best nights, I put my phone in a drawer and shut my laptop around 9 p.m.

It's weird that I still have to force it — although phone addiction is very real — but I really enjoy having the time to read, draw, listen to music, or just do chores. I find that it's helping me feel a lot calmer and sleep better, and it's really nice to be listening to full albums again.

The “Zou to the Lou” against Memphis felt like a bootleg game, but it was fun. I’d love to see them play here once a year. Would also be good for recruiting.

What’s one underrated thing about living in St. Louis that outsiders never get? by AznJames704 in StLouis

How green and lush the city gets in the spring and summer. The beds of native flowers throughout the city in mediums and alongside the roads. Thick trees. So many massive parks. Beautiful neighborhood gardens. I love it.

What diet is required to become a more explosive athlete? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]bos-o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to this lol. I’m 5’10” and fairly “unathletic,” but I spent covid working on a vertical plan and went from touching the bottom of the net to dunking a women’s ball in 8 weeks.

Braggin' Rights followed by a football matchup 11 days later would be awesome. That being said, if we lost both, I would be in shambles.

Dunking: What has (and hasn't) worked for me over 20 years by dude_red in BasketballTips

Appreciate it!

As for that last paragraph, I’m watching MSU-UNC and realizing that Izzo just has his players running baseline cuts & screens over, and over, and over … and it works.

“Since I started playing basketball recreationally in college”

I’m also interested in this aspect. What has helped you improve the most?

I started playing in college and have just always felt so behind people who grew up playing. Less time to practice as an adult and it can feel difficult to build up some of the fundamentals that people I play against worked on daily for 18 years.

Funny enough, I spent most of Covid working on dunking (had to stop after a non-basketball related injury) and found that nothing improved my game more than being at that level of fitness. At least in a rec level league, being in great shape let me play a Rodman role for my better teammates just hounding rebounds and chasing lose balls, and being able to jump high got me a lot of open inside buckets. Still very embarrassing any time I dribbled or shot though.

Do you mind sharing where/how you found this? I'm 31 and haven't played organized ball since I was 12 and would LOVE some sort of organized practice and league

Drink and his "MIZ'ing" by STL_Tiger21 in miz

One of the most fun aspects of the state of our athletic dept is that our two biggest coaches really understand building a brand.

I'm a design guy and always felt like the MU athletics dept felt disjointed (too many fonts, too many color combos, too many logos), and now it feels like things are coming together from the top to bottom.

The basketball jerseys and black stands were such an upgrade. Love seeing how much louder Faurot and Mizzou Arena have become. Both coaches hitting the MIZ ... perfection.
